50 Cent’s Powercastmate, Omari Hardwick, initially had reservations about working with the Hip Hop mogul. Hardwick is cast as the series’ lead character James “Ghost” St. Patrick. In the show, Ghost is the protégé of 50’s character (Kanan).

“I knew him to not only be brilliant as a musician but brilliant as a business man,” Hardwick recently told VH1. “What I did not know was whether he could pull off a show that we’ve seen the likes of Mark Wahlberg pull off in Boardwalk Empire and for the comedy genre that he did in Entourage. People forget that Mark Wahlberg can be categorically placed next to 50.”

Hardwick hopes that Power will allow him to accomplish a feat on television he has never been able to achieve: last longer than two seasons.

“What I thought was if you give Curtis a shot, you’re giving a shot to the people that he’s delegated to help this show become what its become,” Hardwick says. “Right now, he is one of the top executive producers we have in the entire industry.”
