Apple users interested in signing up for TIDAL may be wondering why the subscription plans are being offered at a higher rate in the App Store.

Instead of paying $9.99 for the premium plan or $19.99 for the HiFi plan, consumers are being charged $12.99 and $25.99 for TIDAL services.

A TIDAL representative has clarified the issue with The Fader, stating “Apple’s policy is to charge TIDAL subscribers a 30% fee on your monthly subscription, for the life of your subscription, if you activate your subscription through the TIDAL app on your iPhone that you have just downloaded. You can easily get the $9.99 or $19.99 pricing by first creating your TIDAL account through TIDAL.com, then go to the App Store to download the TIDAL app. Once it’s downloaded you simply hit “Login” instead of “Sign Up” and you will be in the correct pricing plan.”

Apple has been reportedly interfering with TIDAL’s progress, ahead of its Beats Music launch. TIDAL may have fallen out of the iPhone top 700 apps because Apple “deliberately took a long time to approve TIDAL iOS app updates. TIDAL had a new app. on Adroid on April 15, but still hasn’t received approval for Apple’s iOS app store.”
