Former Fugees rapper Wyclef Jean will star in “Shottas,” a gangster drama set in Miami. Jean will also provide the picture’s soundtrack.
The story revolves around two Jamaican thugs who reunite and decide to take on the city of Miami. Tyro writer/director Cess Silvera is shooting the independently financed project in Jamaica.
“Shottas” also stars Ky-Mani Marley, Spragga Benz, Paul Campbell and Louie Rankin, with a cameo by boxer Lennox Lewis.
Haitian-born Jean’s latest solo album, “The Ecleftic: 2 Sides II A Book,” debuted at No. 9 on the pop charts last year.
