As Ne-Yo prepares for the November release of his Non Fiction album, the R&B artist says that he’s pleased with the direction in which the genre is heading.

“R&B environment right now, it’s very diverse,” Ne-Yo says during an exclusive interview with HipHopDX that premiered in the DX Daily today (August 29). “There’s your traditional Hip Hop, traditional R&B and then there’s the mixture of the two. A lot of young cats coming up right now. I feel good about the genre right now. I feel like positive moves are being made.”

Last year, Ne-Yo said he wanted to bring back a staple of R&B music.

“Y’all remember slow jams?” he said at the time. “I want R&B to make a comeback in 2013 and I’m gonna try and have something to do with that.”
