Although Los Angeles rapper and former G-Unit member Game was not a part of the G-Unit reunion at Summer Jam earlier this month, he did offer his congratulations to 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, and Young Buck on their reunion.
While speaking with DJ Skee, the West Coast wordsmith revealed that he genuinely thought the reunion was “dope.” He added that he was especially happy for Young Buck, the one G-Unit member he’s remained in contact with and calls a friend.
“Speaking of 50, man. Congrats on G-Unit getting back together,” Game said. “That was cool, man. I saw the pictures online and I actually, genuinely, from my heart I thought it was a cool thing, man. Especially for Buck who was a good friend of mine, man. I just think that anything that keeps him going musically is dope. Yayo, 50, and Banks I haven’t talked to in a long time. But just seeing them back together that was cool, man. I thought that was dope.”
Following the release of “ChiRaq To LA,” Tyga’s Lil Durk diss record, which Game appears on, some fans were left wondering what issues Game may have had with the Chicago rapper. But according to Game, he had never heard of Lil Durk or listened to his music when he recorded his verse on “ChiRaq To LA.”
“Tyga called me. I initially—When I first got the call I didn’t even know who Lil Durk was,” he said. “I didn’t know who he was. And so, Tyga hit me like ‘Yeah, we going in on Lil Durk.’ And I’m like ‘Alright cool. I’m riding with the little homie.’ I went in without hearing any Durk records or I didn’t even hear Tyga’s part. I just did me. You know what I’m saying? And I gave it to Tyga. And then they dropped it the next day. And it was everywhere, man.”
Game later offered a few details about his upcoming album, The Documentary 2. He says he’s aiming to release the album on the 10-year anniversary of The Documentary and is hoping to recruit Nicki Minaj for the album, which will serve as his sixth.
“Nah, I’m not signed to shit,” the rapper said. “It’s [Blood Money compilation album] coming out through E1. We did a one album deal with E1 for the Blood Money project to put on the artists and blow the label up. So, we doing that. My sixth album I don’t know where I’mma put that. But it’s gonna take a lot of money to have a conversation with me about it…I think I’mma save Nicki for that sixth album though. Get her on the right song, man. So, it’s beneficial to both of us…As far as The Documentary 2 is concerned we gon’ try to get that out around the same time that the first Documentary dropped 10 years ago, which was January 18. So, next January is gonna be the 10-year anniversary. So, I would love to get The Documentary 2 out in January.”
During his interview with DJ Skee, Game also addressed his newest record “Bigger Than Me,” which takes aim at XXL magazine’s 2014 Freshmen. He had this to say about the record: “I don’t have no reservations about everybody doing they thing. It just gets a little soft at times. It kinda pisses me off. And I give my two cents.”
