When Iggy Azalea was asked to remake Diana Ross’ “I’m Coming Out” with a Keyshia Cole remix for The Other Woman soundtrack, she says she was excited. When she heard the beat, produced by Irv Gotti, Reefa and 12 Keyz, however, she says she had another song in mind.

“I’m from a generation where I don’t think ‘I’m Coming Out,'” she says in an interview with MTV. “I’m thinking ‘Mo Money Mo Problems.’ I’m 23. That’s what I think about. I was like, ‘I need to get my Ma$e on, get my Diddy on.’ I went with that vibe, so when people heard it, they said, ‘She’s doing the Biggie remix.'”

Iggy Azalea Says She Doesn’t Care About Criticism Over “I’m Coming Out”

Although she has been criticized by The Notorious B.I.G. fans for appearing to remake the rapper’s cut, she says she is not concerned about it.

“I really don’t care,” Azalea says. “Come on, though. I love Biggie forever, and Tupac, but that’s a sampled song. So, don’t be mad about something that’s sampled already. That’s not an original thing. So, don’t be mad about that.”

Azalea recently released her new album, The New Classic.
