Jay Z and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti are slated to announce a two-day Budweiser Made In America festival scheduled to take place Labor Day weekend in the city’s Grand Park, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Ahead of the announcement, set to be made today (April 16), Councilman Jose Huizar has warned that this event could be “a nightmare” for downtown Los Angeles residents due to various street closures and beer sales scheduled to take place the day of the event. Huizar introduced a council motion in March saying no permits should be granted for Made In America until organizers answer questions regarding the event’s impact on the Los Angeles neighborhoods that surround Grand Park.
Garcetti spokesman Yusef Robb addressed concerns regarding the event.
“We want to work together with the council office to make sure this concert is positive for concert-goers and residents alike,” Robb said, as per LA Times. “There is plenty of time to work all these issues out, and we’re going to.”

Nevertheless, the press conference for the event’s announcement is scheduled to go on as planned, featuring Jay Z, Garcetti, Budweiser Vice President Brian Perkins, county Supervisor Gloria Molina and City Council President Herb Wesson in attendance.
Jay Z’s Made In America, which was also the focus of a Ron Howard documentary in 2013, has taken place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the past. The event has featured Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Drake and Pearl Jam, among others.
