According to the Daily Mail, pop star Rihanna was asked to leave Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque as she took part in an unauthorized photoshoot. Clad in a black jumpsuit and accompanying head scarf, Rihanna can be seen posing in front of the mosque in several pictures posted on her Instagram profile.
“In the event of behaviour that violates the moral codes of access to the mosque, or other visit regulations – such as taking inappropriate pictures, posing in ways that are improper in the context of sacred place, talking loudly, or eating – the violators are directed in a polite manner that reflects the civilisational and tolerant attributes of Islam,” read a statement from those representing the mosque, according to the Daily Mail.
The statement, which never refers to Rihanna by name and instead uses the word “singer,” states that the individual, “…came for a private visit to the mosque, at a gate that is not reserved for visitors, without prior coordination.”
Rihanna’s incident in Abu Dhabi over the weekend serves as one of a handful of ill occurrences that have seemingly followed the singer during her overseas travel.
