Now that the success of Justin Timberlake’s third solo album, The 20/20 Experience, has had time to settle, the R&B songster is now gearing up for the release of The 20/20 Experience 2 Of 2. Described as being a sequel to his last album, The 20/20 Experience 2 Of 2 will feature 11 new records from Timberlake.

Created in just 20 days, the Tennessee crooner says the hastiness in which the album was made helped “drive the creativity” and also kept those involved hyper-focused.

“We’ve never done it like this. We usually take our time and I felt like it would drive the creativity in a different way to have to feel like we had to sprint every day and it would hyper-focus us,” Timberlake explained. “It’s funny because when I called you [Timbaland], I never—remember you said, ‘What do you want to do [with the] album’ and I said, ‘That’s not really my expectation. I just want to go and go and go and see what we come up with.’”

“If you’re lucky enough to have the ability to wait and do it when it inspires you, you owe it to yourself to do it when it’s the only thing you can think about when you wake up in the morning and at night thinking about it,” he continued. “That sense of desperation, that’s what brings out passion. And really, passion to me is all that matters.”

Similar to The 20/20 Experience, Timberlake’s upcoming album was entirely produced by Virginia beatsmith Timbaland who compared the project to “a thief in the night.”

“You will not see this coming. It will come like a thief in the night. ‘Surprise,’” the producer revealed.

The 20/20 Experience 2 Of 2 will be released on September 30. The album’s fall release comes months after The 20/20 Experience was made available to fans on March 15 of this year.

Although The 20/20 Experience was expected to sell 800,000 copies in its first week, Timberlake’s album far exceeded sales expectations when the LP went on to sell close to one-million copies during its first week.
