Since Allen Iverson has to wait one more year before he gets that championship ring, looks like he’s waiting for his album to drop too. Emceeing under the name Jewelz, the basketball star’s album, Misunderstood, has been postponed to at least the end of the year, or maybe even 2002. The album was at first pushed back in February for a release after the NBA season, but now its being pushed back because “The Answer” wants to record a few more tracks.
Last year, Iverson‘s label, Universal released the single “40 Bars” to some harsh backlash. The track was met with criticisms from several groups for its violent nature and derogatory terms toward blacks, women, gays and lesbians. Iverson was asked by NBA Commissioner David Stern to remove the unpleasant lyrics from the song, and Iverson agreed to do so. Later, the baller/emcee recanted his agreement and said that he would not censor himself and leave the lyrics as they were originally recorded.
