This week’s top singles feature a lot of star power, with Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul teaming up for the “U.O.E.N.O. Remix.” Another powerful collaboration comes in the form of T.I. and Lil Wayne for “Wit Me,” while Lupe Fiasco goes for dolo on “Animal Pharm.”

Black Hippy Keeps “U.O.E.N.O.” Alive With A Remix

Though “U.O.E.N.O.” received loads of criticism for Rick Ross’ date rape lyrics on the original, the remix by Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q, and Ab-Soul have put the song – at least in this form – back on top of the charts.

The original song, which was Rocko’s, resulted in Reebok severing its endorsement deal with Rick Ross. Rick Ross later issued an apology for the “lyrics interpreted as rape.”

Interestingly, the words “Let’s have sex, she said yes / You know she ain’t know that” are spit on the Black Hippy remix.

Lupe Fiasco Gets Metaphorical On “Animal Pharm”

Taking a page from George Orwell’s allegorical novel Animal Farm, Lupe Fiasco dropped “Animal Pharm” this week.

Rife with synths and animal metaphors, the song is meant to tide fans over until Lupe drops Testuo & Youth later this year.

Spits Wasalu on the cut: “Quiet as a kitten / Reply as silent as a Raphael-given instrument for stickin’ / Or maybe riot as a lion / Would he tie in tiger for attention? / Tiggers and Poohs, niggas and jews / Mr. Opulent Christopher Robinson too / Reversal like / When that predetermined term expires on a turtle’s life / What of Korea, are you scared?” Certainly up for interpretation, the lyrics will give fans food for thought.

T.I. and Lil Wayne Team Up For “Wit Me”

Longtime collaborators T.I. and Lil Wayne released “Wit Me,” an energetic first single for T.I.’s next album. A video for the song also dropped earlier this week, featuring fast cars and sunny weather for the two Southern emcees.
