Nineteen years after putting together the “We Are the World” charity anthem, Quincy Jones is putting together another all-star campaign. This time he’s adding a hip-hop to it. The multi-act concert titled “We Are the Future” will be broadcast from Rome on May 16th and features such artists as Jay-Z, LL Cool J, and Norah Jones, Stevie Wonder, Chris Tucker, Oprah Winfrey and many more acts. Organizers for the event are negotiation with US and international television networks to present a worldwide broadcasts that will help raise awareness and money for the children of hostilities( such as war).

“This is a very exciting event, but it’s also serious stuff. It’s an unprecedented coalition building a movement based on local participation. It’s their future, and it’s ridiculous that all these old people are deciding it for them. The elders should provide experience and expertise, but let the kids tell you what they want”, Quincy Jones said. The concert will be held at the expansive Circus Maximus grounds, site of Rome’s ancient chariot races, near the Colosseum, where gladiators clashed and slaves battled wild beasts. Wearing modern garb and indigenous costumes, 2,000 children ages 5 to 8 will gather and stand hand-in-hand at the event.

“We were going to try this at the Red Sea in Jordan,” Jones told USA Today. “We talked about Jerusalem, too. Then we decided there’s been as much bloodshed at the Colosseum as any place on the planet.” After the success of his “We are the World” campaign this one is sure to be a hit.
