The Hip Hop Week In Review: Pusha T Calls Lil Wayne’s “Goulish” “Trash,” Chief Keef Signs To Interscope

This week, Lil Wayne and Pusha T separately addressed their beef with one another. Weezy said that he had no problem with Pusha, while the G.O.O.D. Music rapper said that Wayne’s “Goulish” was “trash” and that it didn’t warrant a response. After a few months of speculation, Chief Keef finally inked a deal with Interscope Records, as well as a publishing deal with Dr. Dre, while S1 spoke exclusively with HipHopDX about how Kanye West changed his life and what we can expect to hear from him in the near future.

Lil Wayne Says He Has No Beef With Pusha T, Pusha Calls “Goulish” “Trash”

Just when this beef seemed like it was dying down, Lil Wayne and Pusha T both gave interviews this week where they discussed the ongoing feud. First, Weezy spoke about his feelings on the G.O.O.D. Music rapper, stating that he had no problems with the “Exodus 23:1” spitter. “It really wasn’t no beef, you know. It was just me. I just reacted. Just a reaction, a simple reaction,” said Wayne. Meanwhile, Pusha took to the airwaves to speak on the Young Money honcho’s response record “Goulish,” branding it as “trash” and explaining why it doesn’t warrant any acknowledgement on wax. “It was horrible. It was trash. It wasn’t good,” he said. “Let me say this. I didn’t like it for that type of record. I didn’t feel like, in all honesty, I haven’t said anything about it because I didn’t think it was good enough to respond to.”

Chief Keef Signs With Interscope Records, Publishing Deal With Dr. Dre

Chief Keef had a good week. The 16-year-old rapper was vetting record label deals with Cash Money Records, CTE and Atlantic, but ended up signing with none of them. Instead, the Chicago, Illinois upstart announced his signing to Interscope Records as well as a publishing deal with Dr. Dre. Keef, whose breakout hit “I Don’t Like” was later remixed by Kanye West, explained why he went with Interscope over other imprints. “They was talkin’ good to me,” he said. “They was talkin’ like I was talkin’ and I liked that. All these other labels, I was talkin’ to ’em, but it’s time anyway for me and I’m goin’ with Interscope.”

S1 Explains How Kanye West Changed His Life

S1, otherwise known as Symbolic One, has been a production treasure for some time, supplying Kanye West with the face-smacking beat for “Power.” This week, HipHopDX spoke exclusively with the man behind the boards, who explained that Yeezy is beginning work on his next solo album but that he has given him 21 beats to consider. He also dished on the progress of G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Summer, due August 7th, stating that it sports a “Trap-meets-futuristic” sound. Additionally, he updated on his group Strange Fruit Project, and that Myth and Myone are taking a break to record solo albums before they reconvene. Read the full interview here.
