According to MCA Records, Common is hard at work in New York City’s landmark studio, Jimi Hendrix founded Electric Lady, recording the follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed Like Water for Chocolate, the lyricist’s first platinum album.
Details remain very sketchy, but word is Common hopes to have the record in stores by this fall. Common’s previous albums include his 1992 debut Can I Borrow A Dollar? 1994’s Resurrection and 1997’s One Day It’ll All Make Sense.
As HipHopDX last reported, Common is among the list of artists scheduled to perform at Prince: A Celebration. The week-long event, which will take place at Prince’s Paisley Park complex in Chanhassen, Minnesota, will also feature performances by Erykah Badu, Nikka Costa, and Alicia Keys, as well as the unveiling of the Purple One’s upcoming album, The Rainbow Children.
