After recently describing turning down a touring offer from Drake, Wiz Khalifa has just done the same with regards to Rick Ross’ offer to sign the Pittsburgh emcee to his label, Maybach Music.
“When I woke up and went to Twitter I saw a bunch of people talking about it and was like ‘What the hell?’” explained Khalifa to VIBE. “So I went on the blogs and saw his , then Ross ended up calling me [the same day] to say it himself.”
Khalifa maintains that, regardless of his situation with Atlantic, he would’ve turned the offer down in favor of building his own empire. “I would’ve kept doing what I was doing till I found something huge [outside of Maybach Music]. I’m all about standing behind my own brand instead of putting myself up under somebody else’s,” he said. “[Success] might take a little bit longer and take more work, but in the end it pays off because I can stand right up there with my peers and have respect.”
In other news, Soulja Boy’s upcoming album, The DeAndre Way, will no longer be released on October 5. Rather, the project will hit shelves on November 2, reports Rap-Up.com.
But while Soulja Boy’s album gets pushed back, Bruno Mars readies his first release.
The singer’s Doo-Wops, available for pre-order August 31, is set to hit stores October 5. Mars rose to prominence with his featured spots on B.o.B.’s “Nothin’ on You” and Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire.”
In the meantime, Rap-Up.com reports Bruno Mars will be opening up for some of Maroon 5’s Ocbtober shows, followed by an international tour opening for Travie McCoy.
