Eminem Announces New Album ‘The Death Of Slim Shady’ With 50 Cent’s Help

Eminem has announced that his new album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) will be released this summer.

A teaser trailer for the project dropped shortly after his appearance at the 2024 NFL Draft in his hometown of Detroit on Thursday (April 25) and takes on the form of a true crime show.

In the clip, a reporter is discussing Eminem’s controversial alter ego and says: “Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies.”

50 Cent then makes a cameo appearance and says: “He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath.”

The reporter then says: “The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.”

Eminem then pops up at the end of the clip as a blurred talking head where he says: “I knew it was only a matter of time for Slim.”

50 Cent also shared the trailer on his own Instagram page and tagged his and Em’s longtime friend Dr. Dre, writing: “This shit got some heat on it DRE [fire emoji] back at it!”

Further details, including an exact release date, have yet to be announced. The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) serves as the follow-up to 2020’s Music to Be Murdered By.

Dr. Dre first revealed that Eminem was working on a new album during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel earlier this year.

“Let me explain something to you right now: Eminem is working on his own album which is coming out this year,” the superproducer said. “And I actually talked to him and he said it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show.

“So he has an album coming out, I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire. I’m actually gonna hear the entire album for the first time tomorrow.”

Em himself also recently hinted at new music, telling DJ Whoo Kid in January he was “working on a little something.”

50 Cent’s cameo in the trailer suggests that he, too, might be featured on The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), which would mark his first appearance on an Eminem album since 2009’s Relapse.

Em appeared open to a collaborative album with the G-Unit general, saying to Whoo Kid in the same interview: “I told him whatever the fuck he needs from me, I’m here. That shit would be crazy, though — an album with me and him.”

      1. I actually liked Relapse too. Its not an album I would recommend to anyone, but i liked it. It was like a Black Comedy album with a lot of real laugh out loud moments. Dre’s production was solid and the mixing was crisp.

    1. It’s funny because 50 Cent spoke about this exact same concept around 2008, it was supposed to have testimonies from himself and Dr Dre on the album. I always thought it would be a pretty interest concept so I guess he’s just now doing something with the idea. As impressive as the wordplay, puns and quadruple entendres are, it might be time to slow it down and focus on the impact of the punchlines and delivery. He’s proved his skill set so maybe it’s time switch gears for this one.

    2. an album with features would be great, some of his idols, LL, Rakim, Kurupt, Royce of course, 50, Redman, Treach…the list goes on, but ya a feature album would be dope

      1. I’ve been thinking the same time for the longest, maybe call it the B-Rabbit LP, nothing but features with top tier lyricists old and new

    3. Good. Eminem is extremely overrated. He didn’t have a decent album in the last 20 years. But at least it’s not another article about Drake or Beyoné.

    4. I’ll be checking this out and inevitably getting disappointed like with everything he’s done since 2011. Bad Meets Evil was sick. Everything else was mostly garbage with a few good songs here and there, like Rap God and Darkness
