Second’s ’round’s on us…
This is officially cooler than a polar bear’s toe-nails. Like Talib Kweli says on the new Reflection Eternal album, if you put 10,000 hours into something, it makes you a specialist. We have to estimate that the homie Mahbod Moghadam who made the “Rap Map” is just that – Rap’s first cartographer. If you ever wanted to see a Google Map of where (as Ice-T says) “the shit goes down,” this is it. From eateries, bus stations, to Beanie Sigel’s street that gave him his name, travel through your favorite American city with a Hip Hop tourguide. DX salutes you!

Yesterday, Camu Tao’s posthumous album King of Hearts released. Meanwhile, earlier this month, El-P released a new instrumental LP, Weareallgoingtoburninhellmegamixxx3. Writer Ben Westhoff looked back to El-P’s label over at Complex.com, listing his Definitive evaluation of the Top 25 Jux songs. Longtime Jukie J-23 nodded in approval at the top of the list, while Paine looked twice for Murs’ “Def Cover.” Dead Ringer promptly found its way onto the DX turntables because this read.

Our homie Alvin “Aqua Boogie” Blanco got the goods on GZA’s upcoming documentary at his Slang Rap Democracy blog. Check the trailer, as AB calls this upcoming work the best documentary on the Clan to date. Speaking of blogs, GZA, if you see this, get back in touch about that editorial you wanted to write for DX. Just sayin’.
Check a trailer and synopsis of the GZA documentary here.
HipHopDX does not encourage smoking. Two of our staff members were seen putting Cubans in the air after the Steelers/Cardinals Super Bowl, but the truth is, we don’t know a damn thing about cigars. One of our Rap journalist peers, Martin A. Berrios just launched FlawlessCrowns.com, which among how to dress, where to party with Amber Rose and other things, does weekly cigar reviews. At least we’ll know what to talk about if we ever end up in an elevator with Suge Knight.

Yesterday, the squad over at Complex.com also compiled a list of rappers who owe the IRS. In this recession, we laugh at no one’s financial woes, but perhaps it’s beneficial to know who’s beside you in the struggle. Even better, this rolled out the same day as the annual Forbes list.
