Three 6 Mafia associate Project Pat had one of the catchiest songs this year with the hilarious “Chickenhead,” which according to a publicist at the rapper’s label, Loud Records, propelled Pat’s sophomore album, “Mista Don’t Play: Everythang’s Workin’,” to gold status. The album, which continues to sell an average of 50,000 units a week, is Pat’s first gold album.

“‘Chickenhead’ took radio by storm in the South starting in Memphis and quickly moved all the way through the rest of the country,” said Geo Bivins, Loud Records Senior Vice President of Promotions, in a statement. “The appeal of the song is the hook; it has a comedic flair that caters to a person’s humorous side. Right now Chickenhead’ is getting a lot of reaction at crossover, especially on the West Coast.”

The follow-up to “Chickenhead” will be “Don’t Save Her,” which is already enjoying significant airplay in the South. The video, which was shot in Miami, was directed by Nick Quested (Notable Credits include: Trick Daddy, DMX and Mystikal among others) and Gil Green. Gil Green also directed the forthcoming Three 6 movie Choices (which Pat co-wrote), due out late summer.
