E-40 is offering fans a chance to join him on the remix to his digital release “The Server.” The Bay Area vet has invited producers, deejays, and emcees to remix a version of the single. Producers can use the vocals from the track and put it on their own beat, while emcees are encouraged to rap over the song’s instrumentals.
Once submitted to E40remixcontest@gmail.com, E-40 will listen through the tracks, and choose one that he wants to sell digitally. The contest lasts until Apr. 8. Artists can find instrumentals and vocals here. E-40’s albums Revenue Retrievin’ The Day Shift and Revenue Retrievin’ The Night Shift are scheduled for a Mar. 30 release.
In other news, Cam’ron’s business partner, and co-owner of Dipset West Omar “Iceman” Sharif recently broke down why bootlegging is so frequent in the urban content market.
“Urban content [and] black films are the biggest films in the world,” he told Jon Scudder TV. “f you bootleg the movie and put it on the streets, they know that we’ll buy it for a cheaper price. But to sell it to it to a bootleg distributor, they could get $1 million, $2 million up front.”

He explained that the reason other genres do not fall victim to unofficial street copies is because there is no demand for them.
“You can’t go get a bootleg Garth Brooks. You can’t go get a bootleg Celine Dion. its very rare that you get that. Why? Because there’s not a demand from the bootleg distributor. What is the demand for the bootleg distributor? Urban content.”
He also reminded fans that Cam’ron’s film Killa Season 2, produced and directed by the rapper, will release soon, as well as a reality show featuring Dipset West.
