Doing their own part to locally organize for a greater cause, Cleveland-based Nerve DJ’s will be hosting a deejay fundraising event for Haiti relief on January 27 at Earth Nightclub.

The fundraiser will be treated as a deejay showcase, featuring a dozen prominent deejays within the Ohio region and beyond who are expected to spin throughout the four hour show. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Wyclef Jean’s organization Yele Haiti, which has been at the forefront of organizing resources to aid Haiti.

The show begins at 8 pm and is a 21-and-over event. Price of entry is $5, $3 for attendees that bring a canned donation or donate blood prior to the event.

In other news, Fresno veteran emcee Planet Asia and his group the Gold Chain Military will be releasing their debut collaborative album Chain of Command on February 23.

Along with Planet Asia, Gold Chain Military consists of Killa Kali, Turbin, Montage One, Tristate, Killer Ben and Sav Killz, with the latter two hailing from Brooklyn, New York. Describing the origin of the groups’ name, Planet Asia explained, “Gold chain music is a reflection of an era in Hip Hop where it was a lot more pure. Emcees from back in the day, like LL Cool J,  Big Daddy Kane, their gold chain was more a symbolism of their stature. [They were] kings of their own zone; we’re kings of our own existence, and the gold chain reflects that.”
