Hit-Boy has given fans some insight into the making of King’s Disease III, which involved some assistance from his son.
On Friday (November 11), the award-winning producer celebrated the release of his fourth collaboration with Nas, by sharing photos and a video of his 2-year-old, Chauncey Hollis III.

The caption revealed that, not only was his son in the studio daily throughout the recording process, but that he also earned his first production credit from the project.
Among the clips shared by Hit-Boy was the moment his son laid his vocals for the song “Once A Man, Twice A Child.” Check the clip out below.

The 2-year-old also holds the distinction of being Nas’ only vocal collaborator on King’s Disease III, outside of Hit-Boy himself, who delivers a handful of ad-libs. When the Grammy-winning duo shared the track list for their latest efforts, fans speculated that the project would include features, despite the absence of any guests artist names on the list.
The absence of features marks a departure from the two previous volumes in the King’s Disease series, as both the 2020 original and 2021 sequel included a number of buzzworthy guest appearances, such as Lauryn Hill, Fivio Foreign, Eminem and a reunion of The Firm featuring AZ, Cormega and Foxy Brown.

King’s Disease III is the endcap to a stellar run which many have called Nas’ best work to date. While promoting King’s Disease II, the Queensbridge veteran credited that success to Hit-Boy, calling him the Quincy Jones to his Michael Jackson.
“He’s like my Quincy [Jones], you know what I mean?” said Nas. “So I feel like the next thing I do, if I was to work with Hit-Boy on the next thing I do, I think that we might do something that is going to be magical.
“I think what we have is magic,” he continued. “I think if we do another one, I’m excited about that idea, but you know, we’re celebrating this one now.”
The two would in fact create magic, following their King’s Disease Grammy win with a project that would earn Nas his highest charting debut when King’s Disease II entered the Billboard 200 chart at the #3 position.
While King’s Disease III brings this series to an end, Nas and Hit-Boy have yet to indicate whether they will continue to partner on projects in the future. The Illmatic rapper did hint that he is still considering a similar collaboration with DJ Premier on the song “30,” which features on this latest release.

Word of a Nas and DJ Premier album got around after the two friends mentioned wanting to do it during an interview with Scratch in 2007. However, in the years since nothing materialized besides Preemo promising that it would come out in various interviews.
