Christian-leaning rapper NF soared above the competition with his new album The Search, landing at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for the week ending August 1.
The project narrowly surpassed Chance The Rapper’s debut album The Big Day, which settled at No. 2.
Elsewhere on the chart, Young Dolph and Key Glock’s joint effort Dum & Dummer landed in the Top 10, while YBN Cordae’s The Lost Boy made its debut in the Top 15.
Meanwhile, Comethazine’s Bawskee 3.5 barely missed a Top 50 debut at No. 53, while E-40’s Practice Makes Paper hobbled onto the chart at No. 65 with 10,277 total album equivalent units, 3,627 pure album sales and a streaming count of 8,041,348.
The Result
28-year-old Michigan native NF has secured his second No. 1 album with The Search. First week sales include 129,574 total album equivalent units with 84,488 of those coming from pure album sales. A streaming count of 58,367,203 helped push The Search to the coveted spot.
His recent video for “Leave Me Alone,” which was released on July 25, has already racked up over 9 million views.
NF’s 2017 effort, Perception, also hit the chart at No. 1 upon its release with roughly 55,000 total album equivalent units sold in its initial week.
The Big Day Is Here
Lil Chano’s self-described debut album, The Big Day, has made its grand entrance at No. 2 with 108,093 total album equivalent units, 27,057 pure album sales and a streaming count of 103,966,690.
Aside from a collaborative mixtape with Jeremih called Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama, Chance hasn’t released a proper project since 2016’s Grammy Award-winning mixtape Coloring Book. That effort debuted at No. 8 on the chart based on 57.3 million streams, marking the first time a project had charted with streams only.
Chance is embarking on a 35-date tour in support of the album, which is expected to kick off in September.

With 35,725 total album equivalent units, 1,828 pure album sales and a streaming count of 43,719,279, the collaborative mixtape has landed at No. 8.
It serves at the follow-up to Dolph’s Role Model mixtape, which dropped last year.

The Big Dud
Why aren’t more people saying this…
What about E 40?
Where are the hip hop artists? This is commercial garbage.
NF is dope
I love my wiiiife, I love my wife, AAH!
I don’t know how I haven’t heard of this dude on his second #1 album. I just checked him out to save you some time if you haven’t. Think early Eminem, but way less fun or novel.
Think Eminem but with actual content and substance
it’s a lil depressing but I like the actual rapping. He’s not as technical as Eminem though…not many are.
White cristian rapper all I have to say good ol America boosting numbers.
So you have a rapper that’s deep, smart, honest, has a nice flow and has integrity on the mic… And everyone still bitches. Hip Hop is fucked.
So Chance’s album flopped which was expected as it was pure garbage
Just last week everyone was screaming YBN album is AOTY worthy. Now all of a sudden certain fans are riding NFs nuts just to try and sh*t on Chance. The culture vultures are hilarious
Fucc NF Fucc Eminem Fucc white america
says black trump..
NF is NOT a Christian rapper, nor is leaning either. I think he’s made that clear once before but he’ll get that attachment for whatever reason. The album is good, a bit dark but other rappers make these kinds of albums as well. I totally disagree with the Chance review, just like a lot of other media outlets so y’all maybe in the minority who thought Chance’s album was trash. I mean do you guys listen to bars? I just thought Cordae’s album would have did better because it’s by far better than any of these albums listed above.
Imagine listen to NF :)))))))))))
It honestly cracks me up how everybody downplays nf. If the dude was black everybody would be claiming goat and calling him the savior of hip hop n shit
Hip hop doesn’t need saving. Nf is just another corny ass rapper. Nf is wack whether he is white or black. Goat status comes after years of dope albums. Nf doesn’t have one dope album yet. U know nothing about goat status. Name five artists that you consider great. 99 percent of today’s rappers are straight garbage just because u rap doesn’t mean ur a hip hop artist.
Biggie Pac Em Kendrick Andre 3k in no particular order… that’s my 5
I forgot about M.M. He is pitiful. A white rapper that needs to sell out for more record sales. He had the white audience already but felt the need to go pop. White rappers are cool unless they sell out. I never like M.M. after his first album. He was a sell out just waiting to happen. M.M. used the black audience for street cred. Once he didn’t need us anymore that punk move on to the pop crowd. I blame dr.dre too. M.M. needs to stop acting black. I guess he sold out the white race too.
My comments are not for hov. They’re for lmfao
And how are you gonna say hip hop doesn’t need saving and say 99% of today’s rappers are trash lol you make no sense
E-40 is hip hop. Drake is corny ass commercial rap. 99 percent of today’s (2000-2019) RAPPER$ are garbage. Hip hop doesn’t need saving. Most of hip hop isn’t on the radio. It was replaced by rap years ago. Hip hop is underground again and still banging. Goat status is subjective to a certain degree. Drake, migos and others can never be hip hop goats. E-40, 2pac, wutang, de la soul and others ARE hip hop goats. NF(lol) is the latest bullshit on the market and nothing more. In my opinion, kendrick is rap not hip hop. 2pac and andre are goat worthy. I wasn’t a big fan of biggie but he is better than today’s trash.
At least drake can ride a beat. E-40s just a glorified blueface
You like drake. He can ride a beat??? His singing and lyrics are terrible. Fake drake has a ghostwriter. Talented artists don’t use gimmicks to sell music. Your not a hip hop fan more like a rap fan. In my opinion, nobody in your generation deserves goat status. Everybody has the same name because they’re interchangeable. No one really has any skulls.
