Eminem Slams Critics With “Kamikaze” Print Ad

No matter what Eminem does, music critics are seemingly always out for blood. When the indisputable rap legend dropped Revival last year, he faced an onslaught of negativity. Consequently, Em rebounded with his surprise album Kamikaze in August and fired back at all his detractors.

But, evidently critics didn’t like that project either. So, Slim Shady and his team decided to take out a full-page print ad in The Hollywood Reporter, blasting various publications for criticizing his latest work — despite the fact Kamikaze is No. 1 in 103 countries and sold over 434,000 total album equivalent units in its first week.

“NOT FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION!” the ad reads in part. “Thanks for the support a**holes!”

Editorial director of The Hollywood Reporter, Matthew Belloni, shared the ad via Twitter on Thursday (September 20).

“Respect to @Eminem and his label for running this very funny ad in @THR magazine,” Belloni wrote. “Is this the print equivalent of a diss track?”

Kamikaze, Em’s 10th studio album, arrived on August 31 and it’s been a heavy topic of conversation ever since.

Most notably, it kicked off a war of words between Shady and Machine Gun Kelly. Em’s delivered what appears to be the final blow,“Killshot,” earlier this month. It marked the biggest Hip Hop video debut in YouTube’s history.

    1. Solid album. First I liked only a few songs, but gave it another listen, and it’s a good album. Not a masterpiece, but solid album as a whole. 4/5

    2. Damn, Em just can’t catch s break with the critics, huh? At least millions worldwide still love him, and that’s all that should really matter to him at this point.

    3. This album is still fire…. the Revolt boys don’t like it. (Diddy, MGK, Joe Budden and charlamagne tha god)

Diddy = boss, owner of badboy and revolt
      MGK = signed to badboy
Joe Budden = signed a big deal with Diddy for SOTC on Revolt.
charlamagne tha god = funds the breakfast club
Joe & charlamagne did Revolts “this yeah was dope/trash”

you have to be blind to not see the correlation

      1. Must be another pill poppin’ Wanna be rapper junkie. Sure u will get that bad batch of H soon enough you dum dum. Must be a Peep fan.

    4. I dont think I would personally care if a complete stranger criticized my work. However I think Em has raised the question ‘should journalists or fans even publicly evaluate art they don’t like?’
I think we should share things we enjoy and if we don’t, then dont talk about it, at least publically. If that was the case, there would have been no reviews for Revival and that would have been a hint for the world that it’s not that good.
Music reviews have been around for a long time (same with movies, books, etc.) so we don’t think twice about a bad review. But when you really think about it, there’s so much good art out there that it’s kind of pointless to waste your time and energy in something you didn’t enjoy.

      1. I think his problem is critics complaining about things that have nothing to do with the actual music. Look at the quotes he put on the bilboard. None of them are related to the actual music.

    5. He accurately predicted the Kamikaze reviews on The Ringer; “it doesn’t matter what caliber I spit at, I’ll bet a hundred thousand bucks You’ll turn around and just be like, “Man, how the fuck
Sourpuss gonna get mad just ’cause his album sucks and now he wanna take it out on us?”

      1. Only ones who think it’s trash are little kids who think lil pump is a good rapper or low IQ morons like yourself, bitch. You’re in the minority anyway and the majority of us knows that the album is awesome because numbers don’t lie. Also Eminem grinded MGK in the dirt. Em won, the war is over.??????

    6. Critics dont like being criticized who would’ve guessed. All forms of media are the problem now days, you’re all #FakeNews.

      1. Man this is the last website on earth that would do this… I guess you’re new here… never seen or witnessed more hate on Eminem than what’s always in the comment sections of this site… it should be called Eminem Haters Under One Roof site… LMAO!

      1. Fuck your normie ass out of here fanboy. Lil Peep is much of a trash than Eminem is, he’s way below the radar than what you’ve think. I bet you also like XXXTentacion too, good riddance for him to be dead, we’re sick and tired of his mumble ass rap.

    7. Em mad the critic’s finally stopped slobbing him down. Everytime he releases one of his i rap fast while dissing pop stars albums. They just calling it how it is. 15-20 years of his mommy, Bm issue, pill slash coke induced middle finger childish rap is more than enough. Shyt MKG Dayum near bodied you. Go away gracefully.

      1. Haha if you think MGK nearly bodied Em you are a clown. Yes, the diss that Em brought was not his best diss by far but he destroyed MGK.

      2. What, MGK nearly bodied Em? It was never even possible, due to Eminem’s skills being WAY higher than MGK’s. Not an even match, in which Em didn’t have to go all out to begin with. MGK brought his best into the beef, but it was nowhere near good enough to even hurt Em. Every bar Em had on Killshot was filled with content, while being technically superior and addressing the stuff MGK said about him on Rap Devil.

      3. Bodying em,.. With mgk that ain’t possible.especially considering he didn’t even write his own diss track. Rap devil was a joke. Slim shady will own anyone who tries… As far as I see eminem shouldn’t waste his time. Playing bar rescue with everyone’s rap careers

    8. Eminem’s kamikaze is amazing. Like seriously, who the fuck takes these critics seriously when in fact that most of them don’t even listen to hip hop in general. All these other idiots in this thread saying that the album is trash and MGK won are low IQ morons who are too young to know what real hip hop is.

    9. It’s really not that good of an album…overated…people lose fame n money all the time. He can’t hold the spot forever…my opinion the emenim show was all he had….

          1. Cool but still Kamikaze was doper… ain’t no Stan but that shit had dope lyrics and production combined… it’s obvious that no one understands what overrated means, overrated albums wouldn’t get attacked from all critics but praised from all hip hop heads, when this is the case then the album is underrated smarties

    10. Dude is 48 years old and thinks he is 21 years old. Grow up. Stop the useless bars with 10.000 words without no meaning and the fast rapping and screaming. Which adult puts up his middlefinger and disses teeage rappers. Get a life Eminem. You Show is over.

      1. You’re so ignorant and trying to draw attention by posting non sense comments, first of all he’s 45, second of all Kamikaze would eat any of your favorite rappers alive while his lyrics and flow would make sense to all real HipHop heads and of course you’re not one of them… damn right the show is over LMAO his album is number 1 in 103 countries GTFOH

      2. @R.I.P. Eminem 1997-2002

lol your just anally hurting because an ‘old man’ still pisses all over you new rappers with little to no effort. It’s ok man…some ppl are just not built for this ART. Most newbies get in the game because they’re aware that there’s a chance they can get famous regardless of how shit they are on that microphone. This is why it’s becoming more & more difficult to take mainstream Hip-Hop seriously.

      1. If you think Eminem lost to MGK, you are one of those “mentally retarded” people he talks about in his records.

The title “KILLSHOT” references a 2008 movie where a psychopathic hitman hunts down a character whose name is Colson (MGK’s real name is also COLSON).

        That’s just the TITLE.

Eminem’s TITLE of Killshot has more layers and meaning than MGK’s entire discography… and if you are a fan of simple rhyme schemes, mumbling, and elementary level songwriting, it makes perfect sense for you to be a MGK fan.

    11. On the realist shit, em’s album was just him complaining about new rappers. Like damn dude, some rappers aren’t going for lyrical content. It depends on what the rapper is about. Times change and people’s taste change. IMO, the black panther album and Maxo Kream’s Punken were much better hiphop albums (both released in 2018). I would even say YG’s album is better. Em just likes complaining, and hates seeing people succeed. Act your age. Btw, I’ve grown up with hiphop all my life. I have seen the rise of many big names in the business, including em.

      1. You obviously missed the point of the album. It’s more than just dissing new rappers. But if you don’t get it it’s too much to explain. People part of this dumbed down generation are sheep, following rappers that sell drugs and alcohol and a facist president and others without thinking. And when someone like Eminem speaks up and tries to make people think for themselves idiots like you fail to see the message. That’s sad
