Earl Sweatshirt Reveals Album Features, Says LP Will Cause Him To Lose & Gain Fans

Earl Sweatshirt has revealed the features and contributions to his upcoming album, which will be released on his own label through Sony Records.

Detailing the project on Twitter, the Odd Future member enlists Tyler, The Creator, Frank Ocean, Ommas Keith, Thundercat, Domo Genesis, The Neptunes, Christian Rich, Vince Staples, BBNG, Pharrell Williams, Samiyam, Alchemist, Casey Veggies and The Internet (Syd the Kyd and Matt Martians).

He also said that the new LP will most likely alienate fans who gravitated towards certain songs on his previous release Earl. Earl explained that he isn’t making music for anyone but himself, and that it will convey “progression.”

“You wanna know why im not in europe with the squad? Im finishing this album. Im just trying to make pretty music. Everyone whose favorite song off EARL was epar or whatever might be pretty bummed. Everyone with 666 or KTA or some sort of stupid hashtag like ‘hey look im crazy’ in their bio might be pretty bummed too. I anticipate a loss of fans. I also anticipate gaining some. So. You know. Yeah. I hope i lose you as a fan if you only fuck with me cause i rapped about raping girls when i was 15. I fucking love how it sounds. And uhh. Thats what matters. Im gonna go out on a limb and say that you can hear the progression.”

    1. Experimenting as an artist will always be risky in regards to gaining/losing fans but whats the alternative, never grow as an artist, stagnate, its better to take the risk because at the end of the days fans will come and ago and all you can really do is try to evolve for your own sake

    4. This Fuckin comment was Fuckin removed for Fuckin violating our Fuckin spam and/or offensive Fuckin content policies.

    5. his feature on frank’s album was really dope, so i expect him to go in that kind of direction now…very good!

      1. Straight men who get pussy aren’t familiar with Odd Future’s music so excuse some people for not “doing their research”, faggot.

      2. No straight man who can pull women is familiar with Odd Future’s music so excuse some people for not “doing their research”.

    6. Got one of them faces you just want to smack and he looks like he’s missing a chromosome…

“OMG why you commenting on a nigga’s looks sounds suspicious to me” STFU!

      1. you mean bars, because thats what got him hyped. critics disliked the content but hyped him because of his talent as an emcee and dismissed the content as juvenile angst.

    7. i was actually really hoping for this. not soooo much the change of subject, it did get a little insane at times (i liked it) but i think it will be better music for sure

    8. I’m glad he’s not gonna go with the “I’m an angry over grown 12 year old” angle that Tyler goes with. I’ll keep an open mind and give it a listen

    9. My respect for Earl just went up, kid is talented and I’m glad he’s doing his own thing and I’m glad he’s not dumb when it comes to fans. He already knows how his fans will react and I don’t care if I love or dislike his new album because I have love for this dude and the type of artist he is. I hope to see progression, his latest verses have really been dope so I think I look forward to hearing this.

Guy is just like Tyler, Tyler does whatever his imagination runs with and I love how seriously he takes his not at all serious music which still actually has a lot of deep and dark subject matter in it. He doesn’t care about the fame, he cares about his dream and you can tell it by the way that he is, his character is just fun to watch. He’s an entertainer and I’m entertained 🙂

    10. I noticed in the recent songs Earl dropped that he’s just boring now. I know how he writes and it’s just not fluent enough without that 16 year old hype. Sad cause I loved that old shit. His flow is too jagged to rap about anything but the crazy nonsense (coming from a fan too).

      1. Yet they had pretty decent album sales with little promotion, sold out tours national and worldwide, have shops all around the country and in Europe which are bringing in decent profit, they have their own clothing line, they have their own books, their own marijuana strain that’s available in L.A dispensaries (Domo OG), a fucking TV show on Adult Swim that was just renewed for a second season….

Yeah, OF is looking pretty dead.

    11. Wow that’s an UGLY PIC!!! Earl is cool but the looks department haven’t been to nice to him…..I think jay-z slept with Oprah and created Earl! Haha

    12. good signed they dont really have talent compared to groups of the past, but they are one of best groups out in todays music.

      1. haha what fans? Odd future sucks! The only one with any talent is Frank Ocean. All this guy does is make words rhyme. the only rapper he has more talent then is Waka Flocka and both are just as ugly!

    13. EARL WE SEE YOU DOIN YA OWN THING
      NOTHIN BUT RESPECT!!!
PUT THAT SHITTY GIMMICK IN THE PAST
      KEEP FLOWIN LIKE YOU KNOW
‘SUPER RICH KIDS’ SHOWED US WHAT YOU CAN DO NOWADAYS
      LESS GET IT!!!

    14. umm this dude suppose to be the next nas???? i dont c nor know where that came from… we shall c

    15. how can you lose fans for not doing tracks about raping/murdering? That shit was wack, dude has potential so lets see
