Drake Takes Another Dig At Hot 97: “What Have They Done For New York Lately?”

    Another Drake concert, another shot.

The Toronto rapper took a jab at Hip Hop radio station Hot 97 again during the final night of his four-show stint at Madison Square Garden on Monday (August 8).

“This was the real Summer Jam,” Drake said to the crowd, referring to the annual music festival that Hot 97 puts on. “What have they done for New York lately?”

He also brought out a parade of headliners that would rival most Hip Hop festival lineups, with appearances from Remy Ma, Fat Joe, Cam’ron, Juelz Santana, T.I. and J. Cole.

Responding on Tuesday morning, Hot 97’s Twitter account posted an older promo Drake did for the radio station where he says, “I am Hip Hop, I am R&B, I am music, I am Hot 97.”

Drake has been going back and forth with the New York radio station since last week. The war of words started when Hot 97 host Ebro related a story that set off rumors of an impending beef between Drizzy and Eminem. Ebro later clarified that he’d only been joking about the tale, but Drake responded at the first night of his Madison Square Garden concert series, saying that the station was “telling lies.”

He also called for the station to fire Funkmaster Flex, the legendary deejay who was involved in releasing the reference tracks central to Drake’s feud with Meek Mill over claims of ghostwriting. Flex responded to that shot by saying it was actually someone in Drake’s OVO camp who sent him the track.

Scroll down for some photos from last night’s show.

    1. What kind of pussy azz nigga calls to get agrown man fired for talkin smack? Like seriously? Ya’ll really look up to this dude? What a whiney ass spoiled lil bitch! Flex gonna fuck dat boi up when da face off

    2. Aubrey is a girls name, BTW. Now we have a CANADIAN asking what Hot 97 has done for NY lately? Drake keeps taking Ls. He is playing himself out HARD. Someone is about to pull his skirt. Watch. I hope Em shits all over this fool.

      1. I appreciate Hot 97, the always represent the interests of NYC. Southern Hip Hop 24/7 that’s what you north east lames deserve

    3. I’m not a Drake fan but I do listen to some songs of his but i’m trying to understand where the hate is coming from. Did Drake say something along the lines of arrogance and making other ppl feel inferior cause he winning. We all know he didnt come from any type street back ground and we all know he is a light skin simp who likes taking care of thots and wears his emotions on his sleeve. thats a given and it been that way for long time. All I see is Drake capitalizing on emotional music that the females love and they buy his music. There isnt real competition for Drake to worry about. Wassup with all the other artist that suppose to make music. Its like every other artist is cool being in 2nd place 3rd 4th 5th etc etc . Artist that can give Drake problems i.e . Cole and Kendrick are too busy being friends with Drake so of course nobody coming for Drake and all the other artist don’t wanna ruffle feathers cause they NEED a feature from Drake. All of this is not Drakes fault. if other artist try to mimic what Drake is doing and it doesnt work again how is it Drakes fault. If you can give me a logical reason for the hate then type away but all i see is ppl hating cause Drake winning. If we replace Drake with another artist who has the same success as Drake would the hate be this strong? just asking?

      1. Yeah. It’s all just hate man. When another artist makes a song with another artist or has an artist featured on a track, it’s acceptable. When Drake does it, it’s cause he’s trying to use their street credentials to further himself. When another artist say couple lines of patio like Fat Joe did on “All the Way Up”, it’s acceptable. When Drake does it, it’s cause he’s a Jamaican “culture vulture” and a “fake”. When another artist has a hook or a few bars written by a credited collaborator, it’s acceptable. When Drake does it,he’s a “fake” who uses ghostwriter all the time. The reason you don’t understand it is because you probably laid and drive a nice car. Most the kids on here drive Honda Civic and never been “that guy”. It’s classic playa hata baloney

        1. Goes to show when you really winning hating ass ppl will fabricate all types of hate . You can make a lie become truth if you keep repeating the same lie over and over again.

      2. how can you say that kendrick and drake are friends when drake came out and said he didn’t want to work with Kendrick in the future after he dropped that control verse? Do your research. And all the hate isn’t coming from no where, if you have other people writing ALL of your hits, then you go an steal other peoples style constantly? How can you not hate someone who’s fake like that? Yeah hes had good songs he genuinely wrote, but in the long run, hes been exposed multiple times for reference tracks and ghost writing. And this time from Funkmaster Flex, a legend in the hip hop history. And if you’re still calling all this stuff “hate”, “lies” you truly are blind my friends. If he can make tracks like he used to without all this ghost writer bullshit and all these culture stealing tactics like he did before, there would be all this nonsense in the first place.

        1. Lets dissect what you just typed. not saying what u just typed doesn’t have any truth behind it. I highly doubt all of Drakes hits were all written by someone else and Drake had no input what so ever. I do believe Drake writes majority of his shit but during that creative process you can get stuck and so input from outside sources comes into play but that shouldn’t automatically be considered Drake has ghost writers writing all his hits. Its not like Drake walks in a studio tells Quentin write me a song from a-z while i play pokemon go. Almost every artist uses reference tracks i.e. Torey lanez. Drake being called out or exposed did what?Absolutely nothing cause these new rap young fans don’t give 2 fucks about Drake being exposed especially the female fans. Yes Drake stole Big Sean whole style and took it to much higher levels but what does that say about Big Sean? Did Big Sean try to take his style .back from Drake? No. All he did was have Drake on one of his big songs. If drake culture stealing then why is it other artist try to do the same culture stealing once drake does it. Oh yeah it brings in revenue for artist. cant beat him join him. hate on Drake but let me do exactly what drake does. Everyone calls Drake fake but did Drake try to portray himself as some gangsta, drug dealer bad ass? Everyone knows he is corny but he is America sweetheart. Cant do no wrong and Drake knows it so he capitalize on it. Again what you wrote is probably right but if your Drake and your having a crazy successful year and millions upon millions of dollars coming your way would you try to stop your formula of success cause everyone hating?

    4. I can almost see the title of the next article: “Drake And Hot97 Bury The Hatchet; Drake Brings Boquet Of Roses As Sign Of Apology”

    5. Come on flex u gonna let that punk pop pussy have the last word on YOU! Time to drop some more stories on this bitch, keep exposing this queen for the bitch made fake he is! #DRAKEISFAKEDRAKEISWACK #THE 6FRAUD WITH VIEWS FROM A BITCH

    6. Bottom line 6 God runs the game and hot 97 major L showing sum old shit he said new times new times flex wackest DJ in the game.

    7. Have you noticed how humble Cole’s appearance compared to the rest? As if he went to the corner store for a bottle of milk and decided to do quick show to pass time as the line was too long. At least Waka Flocka Flame wasn’t there to make the contrast more striking.

      1. More like he finish smoking and then decided to go walk to 7 eleven (which is heaven btw after a good smoke of kush) and then he gotta text hey wanna do show and cole response was ahhhhhhh why not 7 eleven is open 24hrs i can always come back. but you right he humble about his

    8. Your name is Aubrey (a girl’s name), you’re called Drake (a term for a male duck) and you’re Canadian. Kill yourself, Drake. You have no place in hip hop. Stab yourself and die, Drake.

      1. Besides J Cole that lineup is garbage. Them dudes weren’t even top 10 back in their day.
Up in Smoke. Now that was a lineup.

        1. Who we got now? Lil Wayne? Remy Ma? Kanye and Jay don’t do summer Jam. Who then? Fetty Wap? Desiiiiiiiigner? fuckouttahere

    9. Joe buddens “making of a murderer” was the nail in the coffin for drake. No way his best shit could ever fuck with that. Drake is irrelevant now.

    10. Stop hyping up Drake. Drake’s music is shitty and his personality is fake. Drake should jump off a building in Toronto and kill himself.

    11. Everyone hating on Drake… i get that he’s not as genuine as real hip hop artists. But fuck.. im sure he’ll make you a lot of money if you were a promoter!

Drake went into another city, called out on their biggest hometown DJs and then sold out four shows.. FOUR shows.. and then.. THEN.. brought out home town acts!

Regardless if he can or cant rap..im sure everyone who went to his show got their monies worth! Just as sex sales, drake is a money-making machine.. hate or love it!
