While Canadian singer/rapper Drake can usually be spotted sitting in the floor seats as a team ambassador at Toronto Raptors games, the musician recently surprised fans at a college volleyball game.
Gazettes.com reports that Drizzy was in attendance at Long Beach State’s Walter Pyramid yesterday (September 8) to watch the school’s volleyball team play LMU.
Drake’s goddaughter, Ashley Murray, plays for Long Beach State’s volleyball team. Murray declared Drake, who is currently in Cali for his Summer Sixteen Tour, to be the “best Godfather ever” in the caption to an Instagram photo uploaded after the game.
“There’s nothing more powerful than when someone shares their blessings. When they show up for you, you show out for them. Thank you for coming to support me and my team. Love you always. Best Godfather ever. #sixGodfather #GoBeach #family,” Murray wrote.
In addition to Long Beach State winning the game, Drake’s goddaughter had her best game of the year, according to Gazettes.com.
Given the unexpected celebrity appearance, a number of those in attendance at the game excitedly shared photos and videos of Drake on social media during the match.
