Drake Breaks Silence On Travis Scott’s Fatal Astroworld Tragedy

Drake was a surprise guest during Travis Scott’s ill-fated set at the Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas on Friday night (November 5). But as the show went on, a tragedy was unfolding in the crowd of approximately 50,000 people as they rushed the stage. Eight people died and over 300 others were injured, bringing the two-day event to an abrupt and horrific end.

Scott has spoken out multiple times since the news broke and has promised to pay for the funerals of the deceased. Now, Drake has broken his silence. On Monday (November 8), the Canadian superstar reluctantly headed to Instagram and expressed his sorrow.

“I’ve spent the past few days truing to wrap my mind around this devastating tragedy,” he wrote. “I hate resorting to this platform to express an emotion as delicate as grief but this is where I find myself. My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and for anyone who is suffering. I will continue to pray for all of them, and will be of service in any way I can. May God be with you all.”

Travis Scott, Live Nation and Drake have been named in multiple lawsuits in the wake of the incident. On Saturday (November 6), concert attendee Manuel Souza hired a legal team to sue Scott, Live Nation and multiple other defendants in Harris County District Court for both negligence and gross negligence.

Souza believes the fatalities were “predictable and preventable” had organizers paid more attention to several red flags in the days leading up to the event, including an incident in which “concertgoers breached a security gate around the park, stampeded into the premises, and trampled over one another.”

Houston Police Chief Personally Warned Travis Scott About Astroworld Crowd's 'Energy' Prior To Tragedy

Another concert-goer, Kristian Paredes, wants to hold Drake accountable, too. Paredes said Travis Scott’s concert history should’ve been considered while planning this year’s festival. Paredes claimed in the docs Scott and Drake both “helped incite the crowd that night.”

Souza and Paredes are seeking $1 million in damages each. HipHopDX continues to send our condolences to the families of all the victims.

    1. Most likely none of the lawsuits will work.
Those people chose to be there.

Drake and Travis will be untouched.
They’re artists. Of course they’ve been trained on what to say on stage.

Inciting a riot is more like Fred Durst did at Woodstock years ago.

      Clearly the industry has learned.

That being said rest in peace to the music fans that passed. Be careful at shows.

      1. lol it was an all ages show and the kids hurt couldn’t provide informed consent – saying folks “chose” to be there is like saying someone “chose” to be on a busted roller coaster when it slid off the rails. The entertainer and the venue had a responsibility to every fan who attended not to mention the larger community

        1. How about parents? 9 and 10 year old kids allowed to go to a concert notorious for rowdy fans and heavy drug use. Now these kids are supposedly in critical condition.

    2. if you actually knew facts instead of just spewing lies and ignorance youd know Fred didnt do shit to start those riots. Not even alittle bit. They people there were pissed bc the water was expensive and sparse at one point water was sold out and people started to get pissed. Being dehydrated on most drugs is a dangerous thing. That was the main problem. Fred literally did NOTHING at Woodstock to start those riots other than being present at the time they started. MORON

This is why the internet is such a dangerous place. Idiots everywhere spewing ignorance and misinformation.

      1. You damn right the internet is dangerous as fuck..the misinformation and ignorance is out of control these days….
