Donald Glover, Issa Rae & “Moonlight” Among 2017 Golden Globe Nominees

    Mere hours after Donald Glover scooped up an award for Best Comedy Actor at the Critics’ Choice Awards for his role in Atlanta, the FX series has been nominated for a prestigious award yet again.

    During today’s (December 12) announcement of the nominees for the 2017 Golden Globes, it was revealed that Atlanta received a nomination for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. Additionally, Glover received a nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

    Although the HBO breakout series Insecure did not receive a Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy nod, the show’s creator and star, Issa Rae did score a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

    And with six nominations, including Best Motion Picture, the Barry Jenkins-directed film Moonlight serves as an early favorite for the annual awards show.

    The Golden Globes are scheduled to air on January 8 at 8 p.m. EST.
