Director Spike Jonze To Release “Beastie Boys” Photo Book

The surviving members of the Beastie Boys — Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz and Michael “Mike D” Diamond — have been more visible in recent years thanks in part to the roughly 600-page Beastie Boys Book and subsequent book tour.

Luckily for their fans, it looks like 2020 will entail more Beasties mania. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]

Longtime collaborator Spike Jonze, who famously directed the Beastie’s Sabotage” video and helmed last year’s book tour, has announced a new collaborative photo book. Simply titled Beastie Boys, the book is expected to arrive on March 17 via Rizzoli and feature over 200 shots of the motley trio taken by Jonze throughout the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers‘ storied career.

“When they met for the first time in Los Angeles in 1993, the Beastie Boys and Spike Jonze were rising stars of their respective fields – the golden ages of both east coast hip hop and MTV,” the description reads. “Immediately a connection formed between the three MCs and the young filmmaker, which has lasted throughout their careers.”

The description also noted what will make the Beastie Boys book different from other Beastie Boys books.

“This book shows the greatest act of the Hip Hop generation in their truest colors as only a close friend could see them–from going on stage at Lollapalooza to writing together at Mike D’s apartment; getting into character for a video to dressing up as old men to hit the basketball court; recording an album in the studio in Los Angeles to goofing around the streets of New York.”

Of course, the book will included several memories of Adam “MCA” Yauch who passed away in 2012.

Beastie Boys is currently available for pre-order here.

      1. No. ‘Her’ clearly wasn’t meant for simple minded halfwits like you. Don’t blame other people for your intellectual shortcomings pal.

    1. These dudes ruined hiphop music, as they opened up the door for people like Eminem, who is the worst thing to ever happen to hiphop. People who think songs like “Lose Myself”, “Til You Collapse”, “Your Name Is”, or “Hallies Music Clip” are decent, let alone legendary, are the reason mumble rap is huge today! The only somewhat okay Eminem songs were with other BLACK rappers, such as the song “Guilty Mind State” with Dr Dre, or “Who’s Different?” with Xzibit and Dre.

      1. Hope to hell you’re trolling, otherwise you’re one pathetic, ignorant human being. Eminem or not, the Beastie Boys run rings over the majority of hip hop out there – let’s not forget that the b-boy movement was one of the founding pillars of hip hop. It’s not their fault that we have so much trash in the industry today.

          1. Haha. Yep. Wasn’t sure at first, definitely sure now. Get the feeling dude respects the Beastie Boys, so I’ll let it slide…

            1. I definitely do Andy! Sorry for busting your balls haha. Those who don’t have respect for them are either trolls, or jackasses. They deserve a ton of credit. They inspired a lot of what came out after their hits.

        1. The beastie boys are soo overrated! Supposedly legendary songs such as “No Relaxing Until Brooklyn”, “Brass Bunny”, or “You Gotta Fight For Your Right To Vote” suck! They aren’t good at all! So get outta here with your lyin ass!

    2. Greatest act of the hiphop generation? Beastie boys are annoying as fuck and nothin but poppy little bitches who capitalized off the 90’s hiphop trend they are a direct representation of 95% of the white rappers of today whining about appropriating culture this shit coming from a white boy

        1. Aww im so offended by some little dick sucker making a false assumption ya can take that shit tie a noose with it and hang ya self cause your way off just dont care for poppy little culture vultures
