Bun B’s fifth solo album has a new release date.

After teasing a March 16 release that came and went earlier this year, the UGK MC has announced his Return Of The Trill LP will drop on August 31. The legendary MC shared the date, along with his album’s cover art, in a recent Instagram post.

“One more time for PAT!” he wrote. “August 31. Full album. Let’s do this! #ReturnOfTheTrill #August31 #UGK4LIFE #RIPPIMPC.”

Return Of The Trill will be Bun’s first album since 2013’s Trill OG: The Epilogue.

Last year, Bun told HipHopDX that Big K.R.I.T. was serving as the “musical coordinator” of his next solo LP. In April, he released a new track titled “Slow It Down” featuring K.R.I.T.

Bun B unveiled the title of his next album in a unique way. The UGK legend slipped in the announcement on a piece of paper during an episode of his cooking series, Trill Mealz.

“New album alert,” Bun says around the 50-second mark of the video. The clip shows the LP’s title, Return Of The Trill, along with a March 16 release date.

Last year, HipHopDX spoke to the Southern Hip Hop pioneer about the upcoming project. Bun revealed Big K.R.I.T. was acting as the LP’s “musical coordinator” and shared insight about how it would be far different from his previous work.

“This album is crazy,” he explained. “I don’t think people are really gonna have an idea of what I’m coming with. There’s going to be songs from me that you would expect but there’s going to be a level of depth that I’m going to in these songs … This is a side of myself that took basically 43 years to get to and to really be able to lay everything out. This is what everything has been, this is what everything will be.”

    1. Finally! I love Bun for itself But with Krizzle behind the board and also singing some hooks. Can’t wait!!!!!!

      1. Awww, what were you gonna say? He trash? He’s a washed up has been? A never-was? He’s fat, just look at him eating that burger? He ain’t a legend? He’s irrelevant? No wonder he always wears a hat, he’s bald? Somehow connect this to Jevvs? I’ve seen pleeeenty of comments on here to know what type of typical shit you were planning on posting.

      2. I started responding to you but I thought there isn’t no use. So this is for you young cats that are real hiphop heads. So I did start out responding but the gods sent a message for us all:
You mean to tell me that you are butt hurt because most real hiphop fans of today’s new wavers and old heads(like me) respect Bun B. I’m not going to be one of these older cats that talks down on today’s young hiphop fans because if you truly take the time to talk to the younger cats and respect their opinions(you don’t have to agree) maybe the younger generation will show respect back and actually listen to you because showing them respect let’s them know that you are coming from a good place. For every artist that’s out today that old heads call wack I can show you one from back in the day too. If you care to read more cool if not cool too.
I fell in love with hiphop after going to the first ever hiphop tour “The Fresh Fest”. I’m older and I still go to hiphop shows of today’s artist. You have to realize that we were raised on hiphop and if you were a real head you still get down with today’s music. It’s not like you develop an “R&B” ear when you hit a certain age. As fans young and old we treat this art form and it’s legends horrible. Some old heads need to be less critical and allow the younger generation to determine its next direction. In my opinion, this era of hiphop mirrors the 80’s. The 80’s was more about fun, lots of diss battles and not much social commentary. I’m excited about what’s coming next because I feel a 90ish renaissance coming. Today’s social and music climate will give birth to great artists soon. I can see the desire for something different on the horizon. It’s going to need old heads to check their nostalgia at the door and today’s generation to humble down to get there. Remember you young cats are going to age and yes you will still be hiphop in your 40’s. We don’t need to build a bridge, hiphop is the bridge. Let’s meet in the middle.

    2. Enough with the trill theme. Jeez. First it was trill then 2 trill then trill og. We get it already. Come up with an album title that doesn’t contain the weird trill. That concept is so old.

      1. People down south live and die by that word. You must not be from here so we don’t expect you to understand. It’s not just a word, more like a way of life.

      2. I’m not from Texas but I like how Bun is representing for the culture you got over there and making Trill internationally known. Looking forward to this project. Every Bun album has had a lot of dope songs on them. And don’t get me started on UGK. Legends.

    3. looking forward to this.. dope soulful chill track “slow it down” is. I like the idea of KRIT being on board, maybe producing a few tracks. Hot 97 gonna report this as a new Pimp C album

      1. Thats a good question…….Rap-a-lots best artists like Scarface and Devin The Dude have dropped recent projects in 2017. They were not from Rap-A-Lot.
I don’t even think Rap-A-Lot is still a active record label. They haven’t put out an album since 2013.

        1. I think that key artist left and J.Prince started venturing into the boxing world. He’s carried some of his same business tactics to boxing and I’ve heard that people are on the low shook up.

    4. Man, that chef on the cooking video is handing out diabetes for FREE… and the women in the community just can’t figure out why the pounds keep piling on… smh. Otherwise, nice to see Bun B back on it!

    5. That “Grow Up” with Ball and MJG is was what the South was raised on….Real messege, grown man music over a hard beat…this was the South’s Soul speaking right here…

    6. Fuck. I put bun b in my calendar then Em dropped and I forgot all about this. Listened to it now and the shit is super dope. Not that I expected anything else. Bun B a legend with a great ear for beats and quality control.

    7. One of the best albums this year along with A.G.
