Boosie Badazz has no love for snitches and he’s made that abundantly clear over the years – and he has explained exactly why it’s such an issue for him.

Walking the carpet at the 2023 BET Awards on Sunday (June 25), the Baton Rouge native stopped to chat to The Neighborhood Talk and provided some clarity on his strong anti-snitching stance.

“Because it happened to my family. Because I’ve had two uncles snitched on that did 20 [or] 10 years,” Boosie said. “I was on death row because somebody lied on me and snitched on me. It’s detrimental to my family since the ‘80s. So, that’s why I have no love for people who do that.”

Earlier this year, Boosie Badazz’s hatred for snitches even led to him cancelling a planned joint album with T.I. – but the effort has since been given the green light once again.

The issue stemmed from a 2020 video of Tip that went viral a couple of months prior, where the Atlanta rapper admitted to once snitching on his dead cousin in order to avoid jail time in a gun case as his career was taking off.

“With the T.I. situation, if he did that – you a fucking rat too,” Boosie told VladTV in an interview about it in February. “I don’t spare no muthafuckin’ body. Because if you doing anything wrong, you doing anything criminal and you cooperate with law enforcement to get you out of trouble – that means you’re cooperating. That means you’re a rat.”

He continued: “But I’ma tell you like this. When I saw that, I think, ‘T.I. fucking lying.’ I think he went up there and just got to fucking talking. You think something happen at 17, 18 years old … you gon’ hold that in all them damn time? All this damn time for 20 some years, you gon’ hold that in? And it finally came out?”

Despite expressing that he thought T.I. was “just talking,” Boosie Badazz added that he was cancelling their album anyway.

“No [that album is not coming out] because it ruined everything,” he said at the time. “I woke up with my muthafuckin’ phone, everything full. My real fans like, ‘Boosie you the last one left.’ They like, ‘You cannot put this album out.’ My uncle, OG n-gga call me … ‘N-gga that album ain’t coming out.'”

By May, however, the two men had resolved the issue – and now their joint album plans are back on. According to Boosie in another interview, they eventually reconciled after getting on the phone with one another, and now have a reality show in the works as well in addition to the album.

A release date has not yet been set for either.
