The BeyHive can breathe a sigh of relief. On Wednesday (June 15), their beloved Queen Bey announced her imminent return via TIDAL’s Twitter account. The post read simply, “Act I. Renaissance.” As for the release date, that arrived on Beyonce’s Instagram page bio: “7.29.”
Renaissance marks the pop icon’s seventh studio album and first since 2016’s 3x-platinum Lemonade. In between solo albums, Beyoncé delivered a joint project with husband JAY-Z called EVERYTHING IS LOVE in 2018, which earned a rare 5.0 score from HipHopDX.
In 2019, Beyoncé curated and produced the soundtrack album, The Lion King: The Gift, for the animated remake of The Lion King. The soundtrack featured the song “Black Parade,” which won a Grammy in 2021 for best R&B performance, her 28th trophy. The win helped Beyoncé break the record for most Grammy wins by a female artist and earned her a tie with Quincy Jones for most Grammy wins for a performer.
Beyoncé also collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion on the Billboard Hot 100 hit “Savage (Remix)” in 2020. She then opened the 94th Annual Academy Awards in March with a neon-clad performance of the King Richard single “Be Alive,” which also earned the artist her first Oscar nomination.

Rumors of a 2022 release first started to spread on June 9 after Beyoncé removed her profile pictures across all of her social media pages. The BeyHive swiftly surmised it was only a matter of time before she announced a new project — and they were evidently right.
