2017 AMA Nominations: Drake & Kendrick Lamar Up For Artist Of The Year

The nominations for the 45th annual American Music Awards have arrived. On Thursday morning (October 12), singer Ciara delivered the nominees in six of the categories during an episode of Good Morning America. 

This year, Kendrick Lamar and Drake are nominated in multiple categories, including Artist of the Year, Favorite Artist — Rap/Hip Hop, and Favorite Album — Rap/Hip Hop.

At the 2016 AMAs, Drake went home with three awards in the Rap/Hip Hop category, including Favorite Song, Favorite Album and Favorite Artist.

Post Malone also nabbed a nomination for New Artist of the Year, while Migos’ Culture is up for Favorite Album — Rap/Hip Hop.

Meanwhile, Rae Sremmurd’s chart-topping “Black Beatles” single featuring Gucci Mane was nominated for Favorite Song — Rap/Hip Hop, alongside DJ Khaled’s “I’m The One” featuring Lil Wayne, Quavo, Chance The Rapper and Justin Bieber, and Kendrick Lamar’s monster single, “HUMBLE.” 

On the Soul/R&B side, Bruno Mars, Childish Gambino and The Weeknd picked up nominations for Favorite Male Artist — Soul/R&B.

Mars’ 24K Magic, The Weeknd’s Starboy and Gambino’s Awaken My Love!, were all nominated for Favorite Album in the Soul/R&B category as well.

The 2017 American Music Awards broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on November 19 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC. Fans can vote for their favorites online.
