Six The Northstar Shares ‘Desire’ Ahead Of ‘SixTrueMentals Vol. 3’ Album Release

Filipino beatmaker Six The Northstar released “Desire,” his pre-album single ahead of SixTrueMentals Vol. 3, out later this year. This is the producer’s latest offering since releasing ‘Secret Avengers,’ with fellow producers Lloyd, Liquid, Raw Meta Fuego, and Ninno.

Six The Northstar shared the recording process with a 10-minute video titled “The Road to SixTrueMentals Vol.3,” which was shot in the surf town of San Juan, La Union. Finishing the album in La Union, he said, was unplanned. “I went there for a business trip and decided [at the] last minute to finish the album in San Juan. Coincidentally, that was the same situation with most of my friends from Logiclub as they were also doing some songwriting there and they let me crash in the studio with my own little corner,” he shares. “It was great. I haven’t traveled for a while and it felt nice not looking at my neighbor’s concrete wall.”

The EP series started in 2016. The second installment was released the following year. On the four-year gap, Six felt that it was time to follow through on the project. “I always tell myself like there has to be a reason for putting out music. Like, there should be some sort of tell,” he said. “I guess with the whole pandemic and all, I felt [that] I needed to remind myself that things are going to be better. All the SixTrueMental albums work like that for me really. It’s a reminder of years that have passed, and each track is a snippet of what I went through. It’s all the feels, the happiness, the heartbreak…everything.”
