California-based hip hop label Beatrock Music announced the release of the Justice For Angelo Quinto! Justice For All! compilation EP on June 11, featuring its roster artists Bambu, Ruby Ibarra, Faith Santilla, Prometheus Brown, Power Struggle, and G Yamazawa, as well as producers Otayo Dubb, OJ The Producer, Fatgums, DJ Nphared, and 6Fingers.

The 6-track EP was made “to amplify the demands of the people” in relation to the case of 30-year-old Filipino-American veteran and Antioch resident Angelo Quinto, who died on December 23, 2020, three days after “police officers kneeled on the back of his neck for nearly five minutes to subdue him,” lawyers for his family said in a news report by CNN Philippines.

“What happened to Angelo Quinto was a grave injustice and far from an isolated event. At least 25% of fatal encounters with law enforcement involve a person with mental illnesses. Mental health crises require a mental health emergency response. Angelo Quinto should have been provided the professional help from the appropriate city agency to manage his crisis,” according to the liner notes.

Beatrock Music held a “Justice 4 Angelo Quinto!” livestream event on May 1. Bambu announced on a June 17 (Hong Kong time) Instagram post that a memorial rally will be held on June 23 in Antioch for Angelo Quinto. “As a collective we knew Angelo’s story would be drowned out by the endless news cycles and the continued abuses from police in our feeds, so we worked as quickly as we could to contribute a small piece to keep Angelo’s story here. Please continue to tell his and all the other stories of lives lost to murderous police and the system that allows them to continue with impunity,” he wrote.
