Sometimes Hip Hop can move at a pace too frantic for even the most devoted fan to keep up with. Albums and mixtapes are released at breakneck speed, careers are made and broken with the swipe of a pen, and somewhere in between all the madness actual music (the quality of which vacillates between excellent and god awful) is being made. Twitter provides a nice summary of everything 140 characters at a time. And if you’re the type that would rather not be bothered with stepping into the Twitterverse to catch up on the latest in Hip Hop, we’ve filtered through the top rapper’s tweets and consolidated all the week’s events into one convenient feed.
This week, Wiz Khalifa and Ty Dolla $ign collab on an album, Nicki Minaj does not approve of IHOP’s reference to “No Type,” and #RapAlbumsThatCausedSlavery is created to parody rap album titles.
Top Dawg’s Top Dog Has Set A Goal For “TPAB” To Go Platinum In The First Week
we have 2 put that goal out 2 the universe.. what u think is wit u get…. I'm thinking 1 week 1 mill #TDE#LetsGetIt
— dangeroo kipawaa TDE (@dangerookipawaa) March 15, 2015
Ambitious isn’t quite a word for that. The last time that happened? Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III in 2008. Every year since sales have gotten worse for Hip Hop, culminating in last year’s epically disappointing album sales numbers where not one single Hip Hop album went platinum during the entire year.
