First Listen: Staff Reaction To Stitches’s Game Diss “Don’t Fear Death Freestyle”

First Listen: Staff Reaction To Stitches’s Game Diss “Don’t Fear Death Freestyle”

Stitches is resilient. He got publicly shamed after his Mike Tyson-like knockout at the hands of Wack 100 in his hometown, Miami. The shaming continued as both Wack 100 and The Game taunted him via Instagram. It continued after The Game seemingly paid members of his own crew to jump him. Whether it was that or the punch that left his left eye on the fritz we can’t say, but we can say that this track is his getting back up. But how did he do? Let myself, Features Editor Andre Grant and Sr. Features Writer Ural Garrett let you know.

Did Stitches Do Better On Wax Than In Miami?

Ural: Either Stitches has some very serious psychological issues or is taking method acting to unprecedented levels. There’s plenty to find fault in his “Don’t Fear Death Freestyle.” Utilizing one of Pimp C’s classic voicemail recordings is utterly disrespectful to the legacy of the legendary Houston emcee/producer. Threatening to kill The Game is maddening as death isn’t something to play with. Even the Compton rapper himself has admitted to losing the fade a few times in his life so getting this angry at getting knocked out sounds childish at best.

“It’s time to kill some pussy acting niggas cause they acting up?”

If anyone won’t say it, I will: Stitches and almost a quarter of DX commenters are the reason Donald Trump is leading in the GOP polls. They live in a fantasy world where the real reality means possibly dealing with World War III. Logic matters none. Taking shots at Game’s possible former life as a stripper is getting old and redundant at this point. “Don’t Fear Death Freestyle” shifts tones from comically bad to deranged adding a teaspoon of entertainment value. However, it’s better than “Color Money” and “I Just Wanna Know.” In all seriousness, I really hope this is all some orchestrated WWE type of situation. Regardless of my documented feelings toward Stitches, death is mad real. Then again, if he is killed, will anyone care outside of his loved ones? He’s been considered a joke in Hip Hop for so long that his reputation far outweighs his lackluster work output.

In regards to Game, he’s dealt with far more serious threats before including former nemesis 50 Cent and current dress wearing controversial rap figure Young Thug. Plus, it’s clear he’s really trying to stay out of legal trouble. The Documentary 2 rapper has absolutely nothing much to worry about. Lyrically, Jayceon has three classics under his belt and various great diss records for reference. This isn’t even going to be a fair fight if Game responds.

Andre: This diss track is really a declaration of war, which is disheartening. I thought it would come to this, but I was hoping it wouldn’t reach this kind of boiling point so quickly. That cooler heads might prevail. Men, though, are hilariously predictable creatures who, in this society, mostly lack the ability to reason themselves through feelings of shame or embarrassment. So Stitches finds himself in a quandary now. One that is of his own making, but I digress… Each bar in this “diss track” is a threat featuring his questionable use of the word “n*gga” to great effect. Does he sometimes slip up and use the word with the hard “r?” Maybe. What’s most important is that you can tell he means every word he’s trying to say.

For being earnest, you can say that Stitches has done more than his fair share. He wasn’t supposed to even make it this far. As Lil Phil, he garnered little to no attention. Yet, his Joker like persona has captured the public’s imagination. Part of that persona is beefing. Coming after well-known figures in Hip Hop has always been an entry point into the game. See Jay Z battle LL Cool J in dark alleys. See that same LL be challenged by Canibus. And so on and so forth. This one has turned dark, though, and violence is almost sure to follow. To wit, Game has also been told by a judge that he is to stand trial on charges for two separate incidents. So many of what he said in his interview with DX Editor-in-Chief Justin Hunte is coming true. He may just be going to jail for the shit he’s been doing.

As far as the diss track, while deeply sad and angry, it raises some questions. Does Stitches have in his arsenal what he says he does? And, well, also, this has no musical value whatsoever. No chance of this one getting nominated for a Grammy. Nope.

    1. You’re right and you can gladly have him…white people can take this LOSS… only a white guy trying to act hard would walk up on 5 people with no weapon, only to get knocked out and make an excuse for it later. So many things wrong with this guy and this situation that only a white guy could ignite.

    2. as a huge g-unit fan I copped documentary in 2005 and loved it. Game is dope. That whole g-unit shit is and was great. Stitches is nice too man. I hate tattoos and the imagery but I think hes got a dope voice. This beef shit is bubbling pretty heavy. So what if stitches got knocked out? so long as he aint no cop or homosexual ill listen to his music. This whole thing is entertaining but very dangerous. I hope stitches can cool it cause he got his own children too.

    3. Fuck white people. They are destroying hip hop. Whites are fucking corny. I want to see a Latino or a Indian or Cambodian rapper on here.

      1. Then you woke up smelling like bologna and kissed your dog in the mouth while continuing to suck a black cock. Hmmm sounds about white, I mean right.

      1. He’s actually not Cuban, he’s 100 % Greek…….like much of this clowns so called past the Cuban myth got debunked too, he just claimed it to seem more down…..dudes a loser and a racist

    4. If it comes down to it, Game will destroy this clown. Stitches needs to lay off the coke and get all that bullshit lazered off his face.

    5. Such a laughable nonsense beef. If Game had never responded to this fool, nothing would have happened. Game should have just been the wiser one and ignore it. Now this Stitches clown is getting way too much attention, haha.

    6. Stiches Aint Gunna Do Shyt..That Foo Probably Lives In tha Burbs With His Mom He Aint No G & Game Aint A Real Blood Either. He Didnt Try Running Up On Stiches Till After He Got Knocked Out..& i No People Gunna Say..Oh he dont wanna catch a case bla bla bla.But Gcode States That On Sight Means On Site.A Real G Aint Scared Of Jail..

      1. Man shut yo ass up real G’s don’t get locked up either… you talkin that young dum shit… you mothafuckaz don’t know real from fake talking about a real G ain’t scared fuckin dummie a real G ain’t gonna get locked up for no dum shit either… you not even a real G… you young dumb founded fuck boys burns me up wit that fuck shit fuck a G be a man lame ass man the fuck up fuck the bullshit…

    7. The quicker we ignore the clown show, the quicker the clown show will go away. Rap should be about music, not about a non-talent. Anyone with any common sense should be able to see the “jokers” motivation. He wants to be recognized on a grand scale and by all accounts, he has succeeded. If getting knocked wasn’t enough, he’s now resorted to threatening. This is very similar to a kids getting beat up after school and coming back and shooting up the courts.

    8. I gotta respect his hustle, he’s staying on Game’s head.. gotta respect the resiliency, even though it’s misguided.

    9. Both of tthese idiots dont deserve the attention. Game had one good album because of dre. He is unoriginal and sounds like someone else on every song. And stitches is just as shitty as every other Florida rapper. Hhdx writers are all little girls who hype up bullshit pop artists

    10. As a white man I’m offended ya’ll would continue to call Stitches white… He is Cuban and Greek isn’t he? Just the wog in him from the greek side alone of his heritage disqualifies him from being white…

    11. Fuck the game that ma fucker has it coming I’ll shoot him myself just in gp stitches got heart the game been bitch made since day 1

    12. Never heard the R in nigga and I doubt he would say that. White people been saying nigga for a very long time… hell THEY INVENTED IT. Its funny as hell how black people want white people to stop sayin NIGGA when in reality all you niggas call each other niggaz every day. Your mama calls her son nigga, daddy calls his children niggaz, black people calling white people nigga, I heard it all. So stop being hypocritical. You started it hahaha stupid niggaz. This why I love boondocks

    13. I’ve said this in another post but I feel like Stitches needs to just focus on the fact that he has kids and they need him. If he keeps all this hyped up outlandish image rap beef shit up he’s going to end up dead in the street.

The above goes for all rappers trying to catch a come up off manufactured beef. Just make dope meaningful music and let it speak for itself.

    14. I have never been told anything about using the n word. Then again i never dropped the N word as many times as this dude. When is it appropriate to use the word?

For example im from L.A and im mexican but my black homies always call me nigga. Every single time wassup my nigga?. When i respond back using the same word i have never received any kind of shit for it. When is it appropriate?

    15. Didn’t get sucker punched , there were 6 guys not 30, we seen the video stitches. Why the fuck u lying stitches? Song isn’t too bad, I do believe stitches would do something stupid and try and smoke game if he had the chance. Stitches take the L and just make a song that’s says ” I can’t fight for shit” you would get more likes Maine.

    16. weirdo ..leave this white nazi alone….kip HIP HOP BLACK…HE DONT DESERVE A RESPONSE…MAKE SURE YOU CLAP THIS FAGGOT EV TIME U SEE HIM….SUPPORT GAME

    17. Had stitches just said ” hahah yeah this is what I wanted.
I took the Ko on purpose as I knew I’d make it to tmz, thanks game” he would have made some money out of this.
But saying all this fuckery that he got sucker punched and he is still screaming? Man U digging a deeper hole malaka “

    18. @contessa_cunt nope not retarded just bored . i see you use cunt in your name i’m guessing that is a perfect description of the sort of person your are but being called a white cracka as you say nothing nasty no but it is still classed a racism no matter how you look if i called some one a white cracka i wud consider myself as using a rascist term and as for jumping from a bridge well you more the willing to take you own advice but might i suggest that you slice your wrist 1st as will make it much more entertaining many thanks and may god and every living person on this earth have mercy on your poor little life
