Game got a #1 album, within a margin of 5,000 units.
Compton, California emcee Game got his first #1 in nearly five years, since The Doctor’s Advocate. The Aftermath Entertainment/Interscope Records star’s R.E.D. Album slid by Jay-Z & Kanye West’s Watch The Throne to take the throne at just under 100,000 first-week units sold. R.E.D. features 2011 sensations Tyler, The Creator, Kendrick Lamar and Lex Luger, along with album narration by Game’s mentor, Dr. Dre.
Beyonce’s 4 slipped out of the Top 10. The Destiny’s Child alum’s fourth solo offering features an appearance by Outkast’s Andre 3000, along with production from Kanye West and his production team – including Jeff Bhasker, as well as a writing credit to former G.O.O.D. Music artist Consequence.
Royce Da 5’9 and Eminem (as Bad Meets Evil) and their album, Hell: The Sequel fell two more spots. As of now, the Motor City natives are gradually approaching 500,000 units sold, which would earn Royce his first plaque from the RIAA.
Frequent Em collaborator Rihanna and her 2010 release, Loud, climbed 17 units to re-enter the Top 20. The Def Jam Records release is fast-approaching 1.5 million units sold.

Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame‘s Brick Squad 1017 project, Ferrari Boyz crossed the 25,000 mark. The Warner Brothers Records project features production from Drumma Boy, as well as in-house hit-makers Lex Luger and South Side.
OFWGKTA‘s Tyler, The Creator climbed an awesome 92 spots with Goblin. The XL Recordings release nearly left the charts earlier this month, before winning an MTV “New Artist” Award on Sunday night – beating out Wiz Khalifa. Goblin is now at #96.
Royce Da 5’9‘s Success Is Certain is at #152. Nickel Nine’s self-proclaimed “last solo album on an independent” featured some impressive help, such as Eminem, Travis Barker and Joe Budden. The work is a thematic update to Royce’s sophomore album, 2004’s Death Is Certain.

i love how people keep trying to compare 50 cent to lil wayne. first of all lil wayne has been in the rap game way longer than 50. his debut album came out in 1999 (4 years before 50 dropped get rich or die tryin) and went platinum. secondly he has never sold below 500k which mean’s he has been very consistent. 50 cent came out flying selling 7 million of his first album, second album came out and did 5 then he fell all the way to a million with his 3rd cd. finally when his fourth one dropped and people realized he was never really that good of a rapper anyway, he didn’t even sell 500k. so the drop off is crazy. lil wayne threw out i am not a human being with no video’s and still is going to break a million. he is way more popular then 50 cent has ever been and if he came out with tha carter 3 in 2003 with the popularity he has now he would have sold 10 million copies.

Based on the singles released, IMO, they’ve been mediocre compared to Tha Carter III, and aren’t as hypeworthy (not that I actually raved about C3’s singles myself – they weren’t much to talk about).
I don’t live in the US, so I can’t really speak for what’s popping there, but if these singles are riding this album’s predicted massive success, then they must be shoving this shit down people’s throats real hard.

U guys are missing the point….the problem is that while Game created a very solid album and while he’s shown consistency by getting better each album he’s sales are mediocre. You should judge sales not by the climate of the industry but by your competition and by your own sale history. The reality of it is Games first album sold 5 million domestically which is more then any Kanye or Wayne’s album. And while Game has shown growth in his music he buzz is sinking due to his personality, biopalris, and consistent beefs that he starts. The problem with Game is he has identity issues both personally and musically. He goes back and forth with the beefs between 50 & Jay and on the mic he consistently bits other peoples styles instead of sticking to his own (like we hear on tracks like “the city”, “born in the trap”, and Mama Knows”) Now while both Jay & Kanye have never done 50 and Em numbers, they have always remained consistent with their music which allows them to continuously go Platinum. To think not to long ago Game was outselling Wayne but now Wayne is the biggest selling hip hop artist.
I’m as big a Game fan as anyone….I’ve bought all four of his albums, have all his mixtapes and has seen him a couple time on tour, but I have to call it how I see !!!

I don’t care about sales, especially in today’s “download for free” world. Based on quality, I was disappointed in game’s overall effort. I’m gone listen to it a few more times b4 I completely write it off…
I listened to The Documentary then listened to the RED Album. RED can’t hold a candle to it. It has good verses but Game is trying to adhere to formulas on some songs (Drug Test) while using others to do concept music (California Dream). For a powerhouse team on Drug Test, the song sure dragged and felt old as hell in a bad way. I was expecting more from Sly and can’t believe Dre signed off on that track.
California Dream had a mumbling chorus that was annoying as hell, Martians Vs. Goblins had hot verses and an absolutely terrible hook, the Nelly Fertado song was a disappointment – her voice drones on – the City was actually a really good song, Heavy Artillery would be okay if it didn’t have a sample, Red Nation was one big sample.
I didn’t care for most of Game’s recent mixtapes but I liked RED files and Brake Lights (listening to the latter right now). Go listen to Street Riders, You Are The Blood, Brake Lights, Better on the Other Side, etc. those are unique songs with soulful feels and seethe of real music.
Documentary is so overrated. Game best album HANDS DOWN is DA.

The problem is that what Game wanted the RED album to be mutated so many times over the last 3 years that the finished product ended up way too scattershot and in the end lacking.
I think starting off with Startrak/Pharrell compromised the project from the beginning. Around 7/8 months ago they tried to start over and find some direction with Game sort of coming back into the Aftermath fold, but too much time and effort had been wasted on useless tracks already and by then the fans were impatient for an actual LP. RED sounds like an album that’s had half of its original tracks scrunched up into a ball and trashed & some new ones hastily recorded to make up for them.
Next time Game just needs to start a project with a clear head and have an idea of where he wants to go with it. That’s what made The Documentary (where he had the creative oversight of the whole math camp) and the Doctor’s Advocate (where he had something to prove) such great lps.

im from the west cost and the album sounds pretty dope but there was something missing i mean he put put a dj khaled type of album. People made fun of Banks because all his features and yet when game does it its cool. Oh well i think this is his last album he will be in on top it lasted a week so enjoy game.
