Producer No I.D. Named Executive VP At Def Jam

Producer No I.D. has announced that he has taken a position as executive VP of Def Jam Recordings.

During ASCAP’s Rhythm and Soul pre-VMAs Bowling Mixer, the Chicago, Illinois native broke the news to Billboard.biz. “I’m (now) executive VP of Def Jam,” he said. “I’m going to keep on doing what I’m doing and take it to another level.
“Def Jam is a cultural staple,” he continued. “It’s not just a label, it’s part of the culture that I came up in and that I’ve been involved with for 20 years. It’s very important that the next generation of executives grab it by the horns and keep it on track as it grows.”

No I.D. most recently contributed to Big Sean’s Finally Famous: The Album and Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne. He is currently helming the entirety of Common’s The Dreamer, The Believer.

    1. Damn they giving any1 executive jobs over at Def Jam wtf! ‘executive vp’ did NO ID even go to school? Hes a dope producer but come on does he know how to handle a whole buziness and other artists???? and dont say Jay did it when he was prez cuz hes on a whole diff level and proved himself in the boardroom with Rocafella and the liquor and rOCA wear already

      1. jay-z tenure at def jam is comparable to bush’s presidency…a fuckin mess. no good albums or artists came out while he was there. im no conspiracy believer, but i find it ironic that a lot of wack shit was beng promoted and he happened to have the ‘hottest’ shit out when it dropped.

promote garbage to make urself look better…smart but skanadlouz

Anyway, congrats to NO ID. he has an ear for the music and talent, hopefully that transitions across the business/corporate office and we get some good music from def jam

      2. not jay-z fault those albums was sub-par what was he suppose to do write for them?after he left it didnt get any better

    2. Man No ID keeps gettin bigger and bigger. He is a veteran of the game but he is still gettin bigger. He deserves it though.

    3. I’m happy for No I.D. but as excited as I might want to be about his new position, I know better. It all starts from the top down and the dude in charge, Barry Weiss, has no real connection to Def Jam or to Hip-Hop in general. So Def Jam will still be Def Jam, with 90 artists on the roster and only 3 seein’ any real support and promotion. At this point, they ought to blow it up and start all over.
