According to a familiar cliché, a picture is worth a thousand words. Your favorite celebrities—including rappers—are doing less and less press, but luckily their thumbs and smartphones still work. Instagram has provided a way for them to document their lives and/or thoroughly embarrass themselves for our collective enjoyment. The beauty of it all is that you don’t even need to join Instagram, as most rappers are perfectly fine leaving their feeds open for public viewing. And if you’d rather avoid the IG life altogether, we’ve filtered through the top rapper’s pictures and videos and consolidated all the week’s events into one convenient feed.
This week, Nicki Minaj invited her Instagram followers into her shower, Lil Boosie’s daughter celebrated his release from prison and Pharrell’s extraordinarily large, Canadian Mountie styled hat made a final cameo appearance. Check the rest of the week’s top Instagram posts below.
50 Cent Makes Photo Collage Of Diddy, Rick Ross & Steve Stoute
The good ol’ tweet and delete… or Instagram and delete in this case. For those that weren’t quick enough to catch 50 Cent’s drama-sparking photo montage, you can thank the eyes of the internet for the screen capture. Fiddy’s beef is really with Rick Ross and Steve Stoute, Diddy just got caught up as the common factor in the pictures. 50 Cent and Rick Ross’ sour history rolls back to 2009. As for Steve Stoute, the music mogul recently said during an interview with Angie Martinez on Hot 97 that 50 is “no longer influential” and that his last hit was in 2007 with “I Get Money.” Ouch. Give us more collages and let that anger out, Curtis. An old-fashion NBA-courtside confrontation helps too.
Nicki Minaj Shares Naked Selfie
Naked Nicki? No big deal. Nicki Minaj loves to tease her fans with fleshy selfies. The Young Money Queen is known for her curvaceous figure and doesn’t shy away from her 4.5 million Instagram followers. This might be the most natural state that we’ve seen Nicki since you can’t really shower with colorful wigs and flamboyant makeup. Or can you? The real question in all this is, who was the lucky person who took the pictures?
Game Reacts To Lupita Nyong’o’s Oscar Win
Last Sunday, all eyes were on Lupita Nyong’o as she accepted the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her work in 12 Years A Slave. Game was one of the many rappers who shouted out some love for Lupita, posting a powerful image of the Mexican-born Kenyan actress holding up her golden statue. The caption read, “She is AMAZING. To say the least….. This couldn’t wait til Wednesday. Congrats to @lupitanyongo for proving yet again that “DREAMS” do come true. You are an inspiration to us all – The Game.” Congrats Lupita!
Juicy J Showcases An Oscar Flashback
Only a handful of rappers can properly flex on Oscar Sunday and Juicy J is in that elite few. Before the Sunday night festivities aired, Juicy took to Instagram to post a picture of his own golden statue that he received in 2006. “Still blessed! Dreams come true!” he wrote. At the 78th Academy Awards, Juicy J (along with DJ Paul and Frayser Boy) won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “It’s Hard out Here for a Pimp.” From one Academy Award winner to a possible other, “congrats to all the nominees,” wrote Juicy in his caption, statue in hand.
MC Ren Recruits Actors For N.W.A Biopic
IT’S NOT TOO LATE! THE AUDITIONS ARE TOMORROW! That was your final reminder in case you missed MC Ren’s open casting call and live in Southern California, looking to fill in the roles of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, DJ Yella and MC Ren. Actually, maybe not for Ice Cube since it’s looking like Cube wants his son O’Shea to portray him in the upcoming N.W.A biopic. Dibs are open on the other roles if you think you’re a good fit. MC Ren also added a few words of encouragement, “If you think u can act come try for a spot. It could change your life for the good.”
Lil Boosie’s Daughter Has A Message
After almost five years of being incarcerated, Lil Boosie is free. No one was more excited that his daughter, who expressed her joy in a video message via the ‘gram. “I told y’all,” yelled Boosie’s daughter, “y’all thought I was playing but I told y’all!” The video looks like it was taken on the possible ride home with her father. She ended her message with a celebratory chant, “he comin’ home today, he comin’ home today, he comin’ today.” Sounds like Boosie could sample his daughter in a future track, since he’s back in the studio and all.
B Real & Kurupt Hotbox At BReal.TV
How many rappers does it take to hotbox a car? Okay, one but it’s nice having company. B Real has an interview series on BReal.TV titled “The Smoke Box,” in which B Real smokes out with his guests while relaxing in one of his fancy rides. The latest guest was fellow West Coast rapper Kurupt. In case you’re wondering what B-Real is holding up, it’s Cypress Hill’s Phuncky Feel Tips, premium glass tips by Cypress Hill & Roor. That’s the proper way to hotbox a ride.
Rick Ross & Khloe Kardashian Share A Laugh
Rick Ross ended his Mastermind release week with a live performance on Revolt TV Friday night. Not only did he perform in front of a live audience, he also performed in front of a live Kardashian. “My baby @khloekardashian backstage wit me at my @RevoltTV LA concert #CaliLuv,” wrote the Bawse along with candid capture. From the looks of it, Khloe was being her usual witty self.
Artist Reveals What’s Really Under Pharrell’s Hat
Even though Pharrell’s hat was recently sold to Arby’s, it is still the talk of social media. In honor of Pharrell’s Oscar nomination, illustrator Avery Nejam shared a fun drawing of Pharrell holding up an X-ray to his hat, revealing a few hidden Grammys. Maybe there was room for an Academy Award? P didn’t end up winning an Oscar for “Happy” but the illustration offers a fun perspective on what could actually fit underneath his over-the-top Canadian Mountie hat.
Bun B Reps For International Women’s Day
He’s represents one half of one of Hip Hop’s greatest duos and teaches at Rice University. But do you know what makes Bun B truly trill? Apparently Bun is an unabashed feminist. A little rain didn’t stop Bun B as he took in the International Women’s Day Parade in San Antonio, Texas before moving on to Corpus Christi.
