Posted up on his bike and rocking a “Fight The Power” hat, Skyzoo makes rapping look easy in his new video for “Bamboo.” Taken from his latest eight-track EP, Peddler Themes, the songs boasts a jazz-heavy, golden era-influenced beat.

The video was directed by Isam The Creative, who was able to convey exactly what was on Skyzoo’s mind and bring elements of the ’90s film Strapped to the visual. Bamboo was a character in the film played by actor Fredro Starr.

“With this video, I really wanted to hit home with the idea of the black market of gun sales,” the Brooklyn MC tells HipHopDX. “The record is obviously loosely based on the film Strapped, and I wanted to really convey the message by using imagery in the background from the movie, but more importantly from news clips and videos off of YouTube, some with people literally bragging about the weapons they’re brandishing.

“I felt as if those clips spoke volumes on where we are in 2017 and beyond,” he adds. “Coming from where I’m from, I understand it all, and I just wanted to shed some light on it for those who both do and don’t come from where I’m from. My man Isam did an amazing job directing the video and executing on the treatment I put together, and we brought it to life exactly the way I foresaw the vision.”
