HipHopDX Premiere: Multi-faceted artist Kydd Jones has dropped off his new single “Dripped Up” off his new Homecoming EP. The project comes on the heels of his Sounds In My Head 2: The Righteous Edition album, which featured contributions from Yelawolf, Skyzoo, Pac Div, A.Dd+, GLC, Cory Kendrix, Max Frost, and Tank Washington. The self-produced single puts Kydd’s unique mixture of R&B, trap and Hip Hop on display, a style he came up with in his hometown of Austin, Texas.

“The song kind of came out of nowhere,” Jones tells HipHopDX. “I was just making a beat and while going through samples, I stumbled across a bit that I really liked from a recently deceased country singer. Initially I was making the beat, started freestyling and one thing led to another—I was dripped up. This song is off my Homecoming EP, which I see as the balance between ’95 and 2017. It’s the thoughts of a kid born in the late ’80s, raised in the ’90s and still knowing what good music is behind the trap-influenced and gimmick-driven industry we’re in. I produce my own beats, mix my own music and make my own waves.”
