Derek Pope returns with another self-produced record for fans to vibe to. This one is titled “Small Conversations At Parties” off of his upcoming EP The Introverted Socialite.
Derek states, “This song is my average party experience: small, often fake conversations with industry people, combined with my sometimes awkward encounters from being too high in a crowd. Throughout writing this song, I found myself trying to write lyrics that I wasn’t connecting with, and finally realized most of what I was coming up with was just me bullshitting, trying to write a catchy song. That epiphany led to some very transparent verses, which gave me a chorus that seemed to write itself. At least I’m finally being honest with myself.”
Pope will be releasing a track from the project each week until the EP’s full release on December 14. “The project has a loose storyline that ties it all together,” Pope says. “An intro, a middle, a finale. I wanted it to feel like a television season- people can tune in to a new episode every week.”
