It’ll be a minute and a half before the 1970’s musical influence disappears from Rap…a classic example of the use of classic 7o’s influence and way of life sounds is displayed with daring talent on the new CD by Hip Hop’s next dynamic duo, Czar Nok…the nasti ‘Nati (Cinncinnati) natives hold their own like combat vets on their freshman drop That One Way released August 30th on Capitol.

Hayczar and Nok add new meaning to the term “midwestern flow” with this album that has touches of 1970’s hustla attitude with a dash of 21st century parking lot pimpin’ to even the flava out.

The CD starts with a mellow intro from the original 70’s “Mack”, Max Julien aka Goldie, who through his cool edged speil sets the tone, feel and attitude for this well produced album.

Standouts on the CD is just like reading the tracklistings in order…starting with Game, which goes straight to the street with what could be the new midwest Pimp anthem…I checked the production credits to, because I swear Czar Nok managed to channel a bit of westcoast Snoop style and a bit of George Clinton bounce on this cut’s hook.

Cause it’s G-A-M-E P-I-M-P-M-O-N-E-Y/He don’t tell no lies wit a bitch on the side/You wanna try that ho/You gotta by that ho

On the track Street Money the guys give you a slow haze cut produced by Los Vegas and Rah Rich…again this song hit as an ode to a 70’s musical vibe…a lost soundtrack if you may with Hip Hop flow that puts the listener on point.

Throw Me A Pack featuring Three 6 Mafia is a typical chant build up rap with that “in concert” feel. Now you can’t roll wrong with Three 6…but to me this track should have smacked me in the face…but it’s still a bobber with possibilities of becoming trunk funk on a remix.

If you ain’t heard Pimp Tight…again I state per my usual…”open the closet door you been living in and join the rest of the world”…that said, Pimp Tight is a pure and crisp song. One of those singles that drop at the right place and right time. It also displays the diversity of sound and again the 70’s inspiration is maintained through the chorus with a straight beat accompanied by a wide variety of sound from hand claps to bells.

Kanye West, who is currently errywhere… produces the song Table Dance which displays Hayczar and Nok’s versatility and maturity as artists. Ye establishes an Outkast type of intensity…the duo display a motivation, inspiration and twist to their sound that enables them to take you on musical rise…reminiscent of EPMD

Though the album is somewhat based on the the “keeping it real” trinity of Fat Pockets, Hoes and Gangsta flow…Czar Nok still manages to show that they can achieve status as a Hip Hop MC duo.
