YBN Cordae was reportedly one of 87 people arrested during a Breonna Taylor protest in Louisville, Kentucky on Tuesday evening (July 14). According to WLKY-TV, the protest started at Ballard High School and continued to the home of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron.
In a viral clip, a man who looks like Cordae is seen being placed into handcuffs on Cameron’s front lawn.
“In total, 87 people were arrested,” the Louisville Metro Police Department said in a statement. “Due to their refusal to leave the property and their attempts to influence the decision of the Attorney General with their actions, each person was charged with Intimidating a Participant in a Legal Process (Class D felony), Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree (Class B misdemeanor), and Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree. (Violation).”
Cordae wasn’t the only notable name placed into handcuffs. Trae Tha Truth, The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams, Yandy Smith, Mysonne and activist Tamika Mallory were also reportedly arrested in the same sweep.
According to TMZ, Williams was cited for criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and intimidating a participant in legal process.
“She has always been fearless,” Williams’ sister Lauren wrote about her arrest. “You mess with her people, you mess with her. She takes the case of #breonnataylor personally and she’s sacrificing work, time with her loved ones, and her comfort to make sure the offenders are held accountable for their actions. This is her passion, this is her purpose.”
Taylor was shot and killed by three Louisville police officers while serving a no-knock warrant at the wrong address. Roughly four months have passed and only one of the officers has been fired.
Cameron said his office will “continue with a thorough and fair investigation” into Taylor’s death and said the protest “will not alter our pursuit of the truth.”
He added, “The stated goal of today’s protest at my home was to ‘escalate. That is not acceptable and only serves to further division and tension within our community. Justice is not achieved by trespassing on private property, and it’s not achieved through escalation. It’s achieved by examining the facts in an impartial and unbiased manner. That is exactly what we are doing and will continue to do in this investigation.”
Cordae hasn’t spoken out publicly yet about his arrest, but his girlfriend fired off a simple tweet on Tuesday night that read, “They’re really arresting people for protesting, that’s crazy.”
You really can’t sit on someone’s property and call it a protest in the hopes you won’t get arrested. Can’t even stand outside someone’s home like that. That’s called stalking.
It is called civil unrest, the purpose of a protest. People who protest will gladly take a misdemeanor charge to bring awareness to their cause. In this case it is bringing awareness to Breonna Taylor’s case for people like you who seem to only care about property and buildings instead of social justice and human lives.
You dont get to terrorize innocent people and destroy their property no matter what. Point blank period. You always want other people to “speak out against the bad apples” whether it be police, white people, or anybody else. Do you speak up against the bad apples in your community? Do you speak out against racist black supremacists? Didn’t think so. Nobody owes you anything at all. We are giving you the same energy you give everybody else.
You can’t even stay on topic. No one has to speak out against criminals because you know the statistics because the police lock them up in swift order. People are protesting the criminology of the corrupt law enforcement in the United States, a fact you just tried to bury with tit for tat black racist nonsense. No where in the report did anyone get charged for damaging property so once again you’re exposed. Just saw you want to keep black people under your boot and this conversation is done.
Thank you no for saying what most of us think, but usually we too tired to argue with idiots. Justice for Breonna Taylor ! 123 days still cops not arrested for her murder. Yet peacefully sitting on a lawn, for Bee’s family & community, they put resources out to arrest over 100 ppl – illegal charges actually – ask Kentucky ACLU – giving them felonies. See how they cover up and protect murderers but arrest peaceful ppl within their rights. Protestors r doing this to keep media focused on wat is right. The planet is watching and billions support Black lives mattering.
I dont want you under my boot i dont want anything to do with you or your faux victim nonsense. I dont oppress anybody and you arent oppressed. You arent going to manipulate me your nonsense. Your boy who cried wolf act is falling on deaf ears.
If we’re going to give excuses. Let’s go to the topic then. Breonna Taylor was killed by mistake in a no knock warrant because her dude was trapping where she was at. The police did a routine no knock warrant and he decided to pull a gun. It’s terrible that she was killed and he wasn’t, but what did she expect would happen? Let’s stop completely looking things over cause of the color of someone’s skin regardless of who and what color the person is. There are consequences to that game. We all know them. At least I thought we all did. As far as property. This isn’t a socialist country yet. So private property is still important and it’s illegal do stuff to other people’s things as a form of protest. Get some sense in your head before you reply with something as ignorant as what you said. It’s embarrassing.
IDIOTS
I am Louisville. I live here. They are not going to arrest anyone. It happened in March. It was ignored until G. Floyd was violated. They could care less about what happened. I am surprised they were walking from Ballard to Cameron’s home in that private neighborhood! The cops let them get there just so they could arrest them. It is sad to say, but nothing will happen as far as arrest. And if that HAPPENs by chance no convictions. The National Guard shot a man here too. They would not release name of shooter or charge him either!
They had better chance getting Cameron to come outside than getting him to press charges!
good… these BLM protests are getting out of hand and annoying af. Go stand and protest on the lawns of these big corporations and big pharmas ruining our lives with capitalism and prescription pills.
