Wack 100 Tells Joe Budden Meek Mill Is ‘Most Overrated Rapper’ With Laundry List Of Reasons

Meek Mill signed with T.I.’s label Grand Hustle Records in 2008 but moved on to Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group just three years later. After aligning himself with JAY-Z’s Roc Nation, the Philadelphia-bred rapper has become a household name. Despite his tenure, Wack 100 still thinks he never quite reached the level of success as some of his contemporaries and therefore considers him the most overrated rapper.

During a Clubhouse conversation with Joe Budden and several others, the longtime music manager made his case for giving Meek Mill the title. Still, he insisted there’s no hate in his argument — he was just stating what he believes to be fact.

“He got axed to headline his own world tour,” he began. “They had to cancel ’cause the tickets wasn’t selling. You too mid-game to be doing 80,000 units when you signed to Roc Nation. When you think of Meek Mill, you gonna think because of the persona that he’s a A/B list artist. I don’t know his lyrics ’cause I listen to Meek Mill music.

“But I’m saying overall as a rapper, because some of these n-ggas y’all be thinking is one thing, if you sit back and look at what’s going on with ’em .. when you think about him, because of the persona of them, you think they bigger than they are.”

Wack 100 wasn’t done there though and continued to explain what led him to that conclusion.

“Think about it,” he added, “No world tours — foreign or domestic. I haven’t seen no real type of endorsements unless I missed it. I seen a little video game he had, but my homebody did that. That was some indie shit. He had the Rick Ross push coming into the game. You would have thought he would have been on Rick Ross level when Rick Ross was at his phase.

“This is nothing against him. I don’t know why he’s tied to Roc Nation. That’s a great company. They reach is limitless. All the artists fuck with ’em. Even though him and Game had they problems, Game still like doing music with him. They done three songs since the bullshit. I don’t know. It’s like, ‘OK, let’s go make a Lil Baby.‘ I done watched him do the tours where it was 1,500, then the tour was 5,000 all in a three, four-year time span.”

But Joe Budden countered, “That’s not fair Wack. Lil Baby is arguably the top artist in the game currently. Meek has never held that position.”

Wack jumped in with, “That’s what I’m saying, bro. The persona, they give you a Meek Mill, you would have thought he has held that position and he’s just kind of simmering down. You know how that go, Joe. That five to eight year period is the simmer down time that usually happens. That’s why Drake is so incredible ’cause he ain’t simmered down in the time he’s been in this game. He’s never held that top position, although that persona of him, you would think he’s had the top position. That’s all I’m saying … I study him because when I’m building an artist, I don’t want that to happen.”

Never one to hold his opinion in, Budden suggested maybe he’s toward the end of his record contract and might be simply working on becoming a “young boss.” While Wack 100 agreed he was “on top of his game” business-wise, he maintained his original sentiment while calling him the “King of Intros” at the same time.

      1. Joes just dickeating, wack is right. Artist give the impression there better then what they are and it’s easy to rotate these artists into a spot and call them top shit, when they ain’t shit. Streams fucked shit up, I could never put lil baby as a top tier rapper, foh

    1. So he’s promoting his podcast. Hip hop wise I do not know why this guy opinions matter. He was never hip hop artist or exec and trying to steal a seat at the table.

    2. Wack makes an interesting point. Meek is not a top artist but he isn’t terrible, he makes decent music. But he was destined to be where he’s at. He never had to be a top artist because he beefed with the biggest artist our generation and legitimately had his attention which put him in the attention span of the fans of that top artist. Also his criminal case being so public and so egregious led to him having the support of Jay-Z and Roc Nation

    3. I can’t believe we’re living in a world where a dude named “Lil Baby” is the “biggest rapper in the game”. Hiphop is so wack, it’s a joke now. I’m embarrassed for what it has turned into.

    4. None of the rappers mentioned were at the top of the game. Mid-Tier at best, anyways Meek is a mouse so they only get attention for squeaking the loudest so if he isn’t the loudest, most prolific one either so that’s why he’s no longer in the hamster ball anymore.lol
