Tory Lanez Promises Truth In Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Case: ‘A Charge Is Not A Conviction’

Tory Lanez is maintaining his innocence in regard to the July shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. The Toronto singer was charged on Thursday (October 8) with a felony count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

Lanez took to Twitter to respond to the charges on Friday (October 9), promising fans the truth would come to light and thanked them for their genuine support throughout this time.

“[Time] will [tell]… and the truth will come to the light,” he wrote. “I have all faith in God to show that … love to all my fans and people that have stayed true to me & know my heart … a charge is not a conviction. If you have supported me or meg thru this, I genuinely appreciate u.”

In addition to the previously mentioned charges, the District Attorney’s office alleges Lanez caused “great bodily harm.” If convicted on all charges, he will face a maximum of 22 years and eight months behind bars.

Lanez was originally arrested following the July 12 shooting in Los Angeles following Kylie Jenner’s pool party on just one possession of a firearm charge. The prosecution now has reason to believe Lanez pulled the trigger on Megan Thee Stallion, which left her with bullet injuries to her feet.

Megan Thee Stallion returned to the stage earlier in October as the musical guest during the season 46 premiere of Saturday Night Live. Lanez’s attorney, Jim Lewis, told Vulture, “The victim doesn’t appear to be seriously injured, since I saw her on Saturday Night Live last week.”

Tory Lanez's ‘DAYSTAR’ Album Debuts With Lowest Opening Week Of His Career

Tory Lanez released his polarizing DAYSTAR album on September 25, where he spoke on the incident with Meg and didn’t take responsibility for the shooting. Lanez posted the lowest first-week numbers of his career on the Billboard 200 with DAYSTAR, which debuted at No. 10 with 36,000 album-equivalent units.

    1. The guy might be innocent! Or not! This is some weird shit really, either tory is scum, or the industry is on some conspiracy cover up tory lanez shit! The thing that makes me think there is more to this is Tory was talking about exposing labels and shit right before this went down.

      1. Tory’s album went hard, no matter how hard the industry and their puppets try to shun him, he is still making great music

      2. Okay, conspiracy brotha. If this is all because Tory was exposing labels and the industry, then explain why Tech N9ne hasn’t been caught up in shit. He’s been a huge critic of how the industry is for years. Or why nothing has happened to Kanye yet.

        1. tech n9ne isn’t signed to anyone? And tech talks about progressively changing things, not threatening specific labels…

    2. Everybody will have their day in court and that includes Meg. I’m not going to jump to conclusions. If anybody’s putting up a facade or lying, we’ll find out soon.

    3. I think all this Industry shit is not the case, Tory is a B- list rapper. He fuck up and refused to say he fucked up. Everybody can’t wild out like how DaBaby do and get away with it…. But even Dababy know his limits… Kodak Black is how you gonna end up or countless other rappers of the past. It’s call life lessons… Everyone goes through life lessons. You think Tory would care if any of you was about to get locked up… But yall on here assuming industry did it or she making it up. No I doubt she making it up. She riding the publicity of it for sure… Rihanna blew up more because Chris Brown Ike turner her. Halle Berry blew up because Wesley Snipes Ike Turner her. Sometimes the Coverage blow the Victim Up…. Rick James Bitch!!!!

If they in fact convict Lanez for his action then I suspect his female fanbase will lose all respect for the MC.

    5. Tory would need to make groundbreaking music for people to truly support him. Megan has had number 1’s in at least 10 markets from two songs, so she’ll be protected by the industry and the people, fueled by MeToo, TimesUp, ProtectBlackWomen hashtags and of course, the label’s money. They’ll exploit this as much as they can to rebrand her as she writes a new album talking about her struggles and trauma. Either way, it’s hard to tell who’s being genuine and who’s out for social and financial benefit.
