Tory Lanez has been officially charged in connection with the Megan Thee Stallion shooting.
The L.A. County D.A.’s Office has charged the Toronto singer with a felony count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, according to TMZ. LAPD also accuse him of inflicting “great bodily injury.”
Lanez has proclaimed his innocence in the matter, recently even predicting he’d walk away free in a music video for “Most High.” The track lives on his new album DAYSTAR, where he addresses the shooting in multiple songs on the 17-track project.
On the album’s opener “Money Over Fallouts,” he talks directly to the “Savage” rapper and denies any wrongdoing.

“Can’t cry now, I’m gonna laugh later,” he raps. “Girl you had the nerve to write that statement on that affidavit, knowing I don’t do it/But I’m coming at my truest, tryin’ to keep this shit 200 with ya, shorty/I can’t prove it but them people in yo’ ear/They the true ones that I feel that really got you thinking Tory Lanez would do you in for real.”
Following the July 12 incident, Lanez was arrested for felony possession of a concealed weapon. An investigation for an additional charge of assault wasn’t launched until later because Megan didn’t immediately identify him as the triggerman. She eventually confirmed it was the Chixtape 3 singer in an Instagram post.
“So, since you hoes so worried ’bout it, yes this n*gga Tory shot me,” she said a video on August 20. “You shot me! And you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs lying and shit. Stop lying.”
