The Game has revealed that he is working on The Documentary 3, with plans to release it on the 20th anniversary of the original album.
The Compton rapper, who has hinted at retirement several times including after the release of 2019’s Born 2 Rap, has confirmed that he is getting ready to put together his 11th studio album.
Apppearing on the Tacos & Shawarma podcast, The Game said: “I’m definitely gonna start the new album and I ain’t told anybody that. But yeah, The Documentary 3, I’m gonna go in hard and I’ma drop it the same day that the other one dropped. I’m up for the challenge. It’s gonna be tough.”
The Documentary — The Game’s major label debut and first (and only) project on Dr. Dre‘s Aftermath Entertainment and 50 Cent‘s G-Unit Records — was released on January 18, 2005. So if all goes to plan, fans can expect The Documentary 3 to drop on that date next year.
Despite his falling out with Dre and 50, The Game saluted both of his former collaborators for their involvement in The Documentary when the album celebrated its anniversary last year.
“18 years ago today…. A hip hop classic was born,” he wrote on Instagram. “All I wanted to do was tell my story & make sure my son would never live the life I did. @snoopdogg passed me the torch, @bustarhymes kept me focused… @drdre laid the foundation & @50cent helped put the puzzle together.”
He also shouted out Jonathan Mannion, the famed photographer who shot the album cover and booklet: “I took @jonathanmannion to the depths of Compton, California & showed him the heart of what I survived. He captured the essence of my city, my hood & brought to the world my vision. Always remember, it is no longer a dream once it becomes reality.”
Its sequel, The Documentary 2, arrived a decade later in October 2015 and featured appearances from Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Diddy, Q-Tip, Future and Ab-Soul, among others.
A second disc, The Documentary 2.5, followed a week later, boasting more heavyweight collaborations with Nas, Lil Wayne, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Busta Rhymes, Anderson .Paak, Scarface, DJ Quik, E-40 and more.
More recently, The Game has been busy feuding with former collaborator Rick Ross after the MMG mogul’s repeated attacks on Drake.
The West Coast rap veteran jumped to Drizzy’s defense and hit back at Rozay on the diss song “Freeway’s Revenge,” which contained several personal shots and flagrant accusations.
“You 12 lemon pepper wings from a heart attack / Akademiks, give this n-gga an Ozempic starter pack,” he rapped, before adding: “Your baby mama told me that you liked to get peed on / You a C.O., that’s the last time you had keys on.”
The track led to a back-and-forth between the two rappers on social media, although Ross has yet to respond with a diss song of his own.
Goddamn it.
The Floppumentary 3: Still Broke And Still Crying
😂
That’s a Beautiful Title 😂😂😂😂😂😂
The original documentary was overrated. It piggybacked off the success of Get Rich or Die Tryin and 2001, except it had garbage lyrics. Yayo killed him on Runnin’.
Dope ! Documentary was a classic. He should get some nice features but none of this slim what if we win and what about Kim? And he’s with him hailee lol – dada …Eminem dope rapper but his content sucks who the hell cares about Kim and hailee etc ? White fans get upset if you say anything about Em. They want to feel validation so they r upset when black culture puts Em down. He talented no doubt not debating that saying his music sucks and the content is wack. “I’m slim shady hotter than a set of twin babies” those are not timeless or classic bars. He sucks when it comes to making good music. …and the rap beef stuff is wack he beefs with Britney spears, Mariah Carrey, nick cannon, Christina Aguilera and Moby etc he not beefing against any relevant rapper. Wack af no one plays his music other than suburban white kids cause it damn sure don’t get zero play here in Chicago. No street dudes, clubs or real ones playing Em.
Facts no lies told no one checking for Em who cares about record sales means nothing Puffy went Platinum before does that mean he is a good artist? Em only gets recognition cause of the white establishment in hip hop Jimmy Iovine, Peter Rosenberg, etc
@GreatWhiteHype Yeah, “street dudes” would much rather listen to a washed up, male stripper who hasn’t had a hit in over a decade . Your street must be named “Gay AF Blvd”
Yayo hasn’t out rapped one artist ever lol wtf literally one of the worst artists in hip-hop. Craziest take on here so far
Not sure where the random Eminem dialogue is coming from, but I haven’t listened to Eminem since 2000. If anything, that Eminem feature might be the worst song on the album and most forced and manufactured collab of all time. Nice try though.
Lol no kidding. Besides, at some point it doesn’t really matter what you have to say, when you have a voice like Yayo’s that sounds corny as fuck and is just plain awful sounding. Hate on Game all anyone wants, but he’s got the deep booming rap voice they all wished they had. Yayo was so bad.
Bro what the fuck are you rambling about Eminem for?
I just listened to this rn, and Yayo had the better verse 4 sure. Sounded better than i remembered 👍🏽 Game was doing those wack groupie bars.
I see a few angry Gayme fans commenting on here. Don’t worry, after this album flops like all his others, he’ll be offering 2 for 1 lap dances. Save your dollar bills , he needs them
Have you seen what sells nowadays? Who gives a crap. I’ll take this over Drake, Travis Scott or Future type garbage any day of the week. At least it still sounds like rap. Even Not Like Us has Kendrick sounding like he’s holding in a shart.
Cool story bro, thanks for sharing. Now go eat a dick
Lol when you gonna get your lonely ass a job instead of sitting on here hate spamming every day?
Priscilla Rainey will be pleased that he will have additional income lol
This album will be no different then the others, features on every track 🙄. Carry on!!!
Damn, keep it up old man. Love these old heads still dropping music. I’ll take it over the nonsense being made by the “popular” ones today. For all the hate this guy gets, Documentary and Doctor’s Advocate are 2 of the best albums ever made. Def better than anything 50 put out after GRoDT.
Can he even write 16 bars without mentioning Dre?
Eh, id only be interested if he pulled in some of the old team members. Dre, storch, 50, Em (for production, not raps).
Eminem is a terrible producer and pretty sure he’s only produced one song for the game. Not sure I’ve ever heard someone want Eminem production. 🤡
@Jorge that’s your opinion, I feel like em’s best songs of the past was produced by him. Stan, Lose Yourself, Way I Am, Just Don’t Give A F, Guilty Conciense, Cleaning Out My Closet, Lloyd Banks Hands Up, Obie Trices Don’t Come Down… that style production is good for rappers like Em, so I wouldn’t say it’s terrible. I’m just guessing you didn’t know he produced a pot of his hits.
Em got 100% of production credits for songs likes 50s “don’t push me” or “patiently waiting”. I like the style.
He said That Other Hoe won’t see a penny of his money. Now she bout to take his house that he illegally put in Wack 100 name to avoid paying her while hiding his money. Now he wants to come out with another album. Knowing she going to take the proceeds and his music is garbage. He was a one hit wonder under Dre. But got the nerve to talk about R. Kelly. This creep went over seas to do a show and saw a 14 year old and convinced her mother to let her come to America alone. And took her virginity and got her pregnant. But when he busted a nut and got up he tried to talk her into letting Wack 100 have sloppy seconds. I’m going by what 40 Glocc posted. Snap shots and all…
