Talib Kweli “Prisoner Of Conscious” Tracklist & Full Album Stream

Talib Kweli is putting the wheels in motion for his upcoming album Prisoner of Consciousness. During an interview with Sermon’s Domain, the Brooklyn, New York rapper revealed that his LP is slated to drop in October and that guests including RZA, Curren$y, Miguel, Kendrick Lamar and Busta Rhymes are expected to make the final cut.

“Shit, let’s see, we got Miguel and Melanie [Fiona] and Kendrick and Curren$y, my man Rubix, Sara Jorge, Maino, Busta Rhymes, RZA… This album has more features than any album I’ve ever put out, but I don’t want that to take away from the fact that this is my album. I’ve always been into features, I’ve always been into collaborations – with Mos Def, with Hi-Tek, with Madlib, with Res – I always do a new group. But this album, I really wanted to… Eardrum had a lot of features too, but that had a lot more songs on it than this album.

Kweli, who is also prepping the release of his mixtape Attack the Block, said that Prisoner of Consciousness will convey a shift in the way that he approaches writing. “Maybe experimenting might have been the wrong word for me to use, but just a different direction. Songs that are more focused on life and what people are going through, and dealing with the social conditions in that way as opposed to speaking directly to the social conditions. That’s what I’m really trying to do with this album.”

    1. talib kweli is nice but his voice has always been annoying, both rapping and when he’s just talking

      1. what you want a manly rough voice like rick ross or sweet tender virgin like lil wayne?….fucking derp.

      2. Oh ok you might prefer the sensual style of Drake, or even Trey Songz. They both make music for the ladies.

    2. Finally some intelligence is coming back to the game. Until then we’ll have to settle with the boss telling us how great his life is and how much ours sucks.

    3. looks like another boring ass album from old ass kweli. yawn, wake me when wiz khalifa’s album drops.

      1. lol, keep sleeping you only fantasizing them dudes in your dreams dont bother wake up to real hip hop

    4. they use to say the dirty south was killing hip hop

but now, the very birth place of hip hop, the east coast is killing hip hop by doing wack collabos

Nas be featuring Ross on his albums *smh*

      1. Did you listen to Revolutions Per Minute? It wasn’t as good as Ear Drum (classic) but it was tight. Gutter Rainbows on the other hand… wack

    5. Always love a Kweli album. You always get true lyricism, journalim, b-boy style, activism mixed into one artist. I love the fact he can go anywhere with his music and bring it right back to the head nodders. Plus unlike sellout Jay Z and others he never dumbs down his music…SALUTE

      1. Jay’s worst garbage >>>> Talib’s entire existence. Dude should stick to writing, he got one of the most horrible flows I’ve ever heard.

      2. Ok then why you here reading about Talib Kweli’s new album and commenting, nobody else cares about who you listen to.

    6. Prisoner of cornball off-beat flow, arrogance and phony ‘iiterary’ aspirations… Otherwise yeah, he’s “great.”

Doom on his worst day >>>>> Talib’s fucking career including Black Star.

      1. You do realize Doom and Kweli have mad respect for each other right? Doom is a crazy complex lyricist but a completely different MC..You don’t have to like him by any means but why go out of your way to slander him lol? Doom would call you out just saying..

      2. hope this fucker is trolling .. there is no reason to hate on kweli, sure you might not like him, but hate? he aint putting out 2chainz type wackness..

    7. Holy fuck, he got Maino!! Worst Brooklyn MC ever (and I use the term “MC” very loosely)… Talib’s a clueless fucking whore though I guess he deserves “credit” for not inflecting Jean Grae on his fans again…

On the other hand, if you’re wack enough to like Talib as a RAPPER, ya’ll fucking DESERVE Jean Grae…

Who’s like Big Daddy Kane with tits compared to 34 IQ Maino.

      1. Why all the hate when he’s got one of the most positive messages in Hip Hop at his recognition level period? He’s gained mutual respect from lots of rappers with bigger followings using a positive message and just being himself. He’s far from caught up in it but he has to “play the game” to achieve change to a certain degree. It’s about shifting people’s perspective and he cant do that if the people perspective he’s trying to change don’t even know who he is..

    8. Talib Kweli is smart for not taking shots at YMCMB. He doesn’t want it with Wayne, Drake, Nicki or Tyfa. Tupac told ya’ll not to go to war if you don’t have your money right. Kweli, Common and Pusha T don’t have thier money right. All of them are broke. They know it’s in their best interests to stay away from YMCMB. Look at Pusha T talking about how he doesn’t want it with Drake anymore.

      1. ymcmb haven’t read a fucking book between them. they are a bunch of retards recycling the same shit lil lame says.A midget,a whore, and a Canadian? come on man

      2. this dude dental damn is so obsessed with pusha T and i dk why..literally every post i seen doesnt matter if it has nothing to do with YM or GOOD.. mentions pusha t… u know ur nice when u get mentioned everytime in every article by someone who dont like u…ur just uppin pusha not hurtin him

      1. Every rapper needs at least one radio friendly song..that’s where Nelly comes in. actually he helps country artists too.

      2. nah fuck all that ..nelly might not be a lyrical beast but he can fuck a club up. he just makes good music idk how to explain it any further..i wanna hear that song 1st

    10. all you bitch ass new school cats need to brake out you pencils & paper and listen to this shit.you might learn something!

      1. Amen. all you suckas who penciled in the new Meek Mill album on your calendars get with Talib’s brand of hip hop, you might seem smarter.

      2. COSIGN!! TK is the truth in the rap game..should be a good year for rap between him, kdot, em, jayz, jada hopefully lyrics take that spot back

    11. Feels like Kweli is beginning to dumb down his material, attack of the block was wack in my opinion only had like 3 good songs it was terrible for Kweli’s standards. I’m really hoping he deliveres the goods for this one because I only really check for him when it comes to hip hop in 2012 ..I’m relying on this dude lol

    12. No Rick Ross? Kweli is the prisoner of his own fucked up attitude. Noone’s gonna buy this album. Rick Ross went gold.

      1. Talib’s fucked up attitude, have you heard the negative/retarded bullshit MMG spews out.Talib just doesn’t want that same old regurgitated fake shit on one off his classics. “Classics” something MMG will never know about. In ten years no ones gonna be bumpin Rick Ross but kweli’s shit is timeless.

    13. what ever happen to that blackstar album? And have Hi-tek been up to? Haven’t heard a beat from him since the last ya did together. I know Talib won’t read this but I’m putting it out there anyway.

      1. ^^ that’s the joke you complete moron.

do you need it explained to you? it’s like a different talib read it

    14. wtf happened to this guy. he was god, now he makin music with shitty rappers like maino, lil wayne, gucci. what happened to his blackstar days?

    15. I’m making $86 an hour working from home. I was shocked when my neighbour told me she was averaging $95 but I see how it works now. I feel so much freedom now that I’m my own boss. This is what I do, =B=l=u=e=3=1=.=c=o=m=

    16. Not suprised about this tracklist. Talib Kweli has always been a hybrid type of artist. One minute working with Mos Def (Yasiin Bey) next minute Gucci, Lil Wayne. It is what it is. Talib always been more mainstream than Yasiin Bey. Gonna be suprised to hear this

    17. I liked Gutter Rainbows, but why is Kweli so offended by a label? Shaq ain’t suppose to shoot threes! Do what you do best, cause no one is better

      1. talib has always been one of my fav artists.. he came to milwaukee back in the day, and he called some b-boys onto the stage, and a few of my boys went up there and did thier thing.. the dj was scratching and talib was just in the circle watching… my guy started messin with talib about not breaking with em, and talib hit a little footwork real quick.. lol.. man, that was some true hip-hop ish..

follow @Bgootz (thoughts on hip-hop, sports, politics, and more)

follow @Bgootz (thoughts on hip-hop, sports, politics, and more)

    18. Pete Rock, Madlib, Oh No, Hi-Tek, 88 and ski production… with multiple beats from most of them. A good platform to launch a classic. But where’s RZA?

    19. Suprised nobody made a big fuss about all the features on this album. Anyway Talib Kweli is dope. Not sure if it was eardrum(think so) but its the shit that had country cousins featuring UGK on it. Album was hot made me check more of his music. Dude is dope ima keep a hear out on this project.

    20. Abby. I just agree… Tiffany`s story is surprising… last wednesday I got Ford from having made $5113 this-past/month and over ten/k last-munth. it’s certainly the best job Ive ever had. I actually started 7-months ago and almost straight away startad earning more than $81 p/h. I went to this site……… ZOO80 Com

      1. shit son. its bout time nelly rocked the mic. means talib will get some fans. maybe get on the radio for a minute. get a hot video chick in his video. ive been saying it for a minute that kweli has to drop mos def. hes rhymes are old and dated like his hair line. nelly is up with the new, young gerneration. still love the song he did with rick ross couple years ago. ya bish

      2. Fresh 2 Def, I hope you’re kidding. When’s the last time Nelly had a hit? He and Talib are practically from the same generation.

    21. he definately fell off hes trying to seek attention too much seems like a desperate washed up rapper

    22. ppl need to stop hating the features..sure its suspect but this one of them dudes u gotta hear the music first bec TK got a trackrecord of real hiphop.. and nelly got a nice sound on track who knows maybe nelly brings a banger. TK deserves to be mainstream hopefully he can get a lil attention

    23. I NO LONGER FUCK WITH TALIB CUZ HE SOLD OUT BY CALLING OUT RAP NIGGAZ JUST TO PROMOTE HIS ALBUM…TO PROMOTE AN ALBUM THAT IS GUARANTEED NOT TO SELL!!

      FUCK YOU NIGGA

    24. talib kweli and nelly. lol. i wonder why does these dumb collaborations thinking they’re gonna fly because no one expects it.

    25. just came back from the woods fucking hell raiser chase son of a bitch came out the hell waters.took the shit out the mother fucker

    26. Been waiting for this since Ear Drum…

      check me out

      soundcloud.com /alangreene

      CLASS AMG

    27. I wish Talib all the best but this pop ass shit aint fly. Weak ass beats front to back, soft ass hooks, nothing thought provoking as his early work. Sad to see the lame rapola him and Mos or Yessir or whatever his name is now are making nowadays. Gon dig out my copy of Black Star and chill out to that instead.

    28. Talib, I’ll tell you what you SHOULD do.

      1. I actually wouldn’t mind having Will.I.Am on a hook…like he did for “I Want You” with Common…but that’s it. It’s a shame…Will.I.Am used to be a dope MC before he completely sold out.

    29. whatever happened to real hip hop? this is just commerical, EDM, DJ button pushing trash. i miss real hip hop. trill hop if you will. talib kewlli has been a soldout ever since his day in WhiteStarr with Most Def. I Mean come on. leave it to someone like Pharrell or Wacka to a sertain extent to keep real lyrics, and beats to the fore front. ya bish!!

      1. oh for true! you go to the clubs and you never here get by! like come on mang. you want a hit? get luda and david guetta on a track. keep the clubs popin. real trill hip hop ya bish!

      2. Trolling by praising Pharrell doesn’t really work, Pharrell/The Neptunes have done some great things for HipHop

      3. you such a chump. fuck i gon be trollin if pharrell is good. whack ass troll ya self. ya damn bish!

      4. TALIB BRINGING BACK REAL HIP HOP. FUCK ALL THAT COMMERCIAL, EDM, DJ BUTTON PUSHING TRASH. THIS IS REAL HIP HOP. THAT ILL SHIT IF YOU WILL. TALIB KWELI HAS BEEN KEEPING IT REAL EVER SINCE HIS DAYS IN BLACK STAR WITH MOS DEF. I MEAN COME ON. LEAVE IT TO WAKA FLOCKA FLAME AND TRINIDAD JAMES TO DESTROY AN ART FORM WITH WEAK LYRICS AND PLAYED OUT SHITTY TRAP BEATS IN THE FORE FRONT. YA BISH!

    30. Undeniable classic, hip hop is back. Stanky leg swag fag rappers get worried. Pre-ordered this shit on Amazon. Summertime CD gem.

      1. Homie, you’re hype as shit. Stop throwing the “C” word around so much. I ain’t even listen to it yet and I’d bet everything I own that it’s not a classic

    31. Even if Talib isn’t as good as he once was, he’s still colder than anyone else doin shit out there. Reading some of your dumbass comments makes me believe you’re too dumb to appreciate this music. Go listen to some Trinadad James or bullsh*t like that.

    32. I haven’t finished listening to the whole album yet but I just wanted to say off hand…that the hook on “Push Thru” which I think is by Glen Reynolds is just plain old weak! Really boring I felt like…kinda disappointed with what they did with just that track.

    33. “You can have your own opinion but not your own facts”-Talib ‘Human Mic’

      Y’all ain’t listening.

    34. THIS NIGGA SOUNDS HORRIBLE MY NIGGA DRAKE GONNA DROP THE BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME WHEN HES NEXT ALBUM DROPS. DRAKE SHITS ON THIS MOUSE VOICE BORING WANNA BE RAPPER.

      1. DRAKE SOUNDS HORRIBLE MY NIGGA TALIB KWELI JUST PUT OUT ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS THIS YEAR AND IS ONE OF THE BEST EVER. TALIB SHITS ON THAT EMO SOUNDING BORING R&B RAPPER.

    35. it’s sad how weak this album is compared to what kweli used to deliver.

Kweli has gone steadily downhill since Ear Drum, his last really dope album

    36. Man I swear there’s some stupid ass people up on this site. Good lord! This album is fucking insane! If you don’t know that then nothing will help you in this life. Talib went in and the beats are fucking fire. Talib is easily top 10 lyrically off the strength of his unique style alone. Nobody has Talib’s flow. Nobody!

      1. I AGREE, LET THESE DUMB FUCKS CONTINUE TO LISTEN TO THAT BULLSHIT, AND HE HASNT BEEN GOIN DOWN HILL EITHER FUCK OUTTA HERE

    37. Boooooorrrriiiinnngg!!! And I listen to DOOM, Killah Priest, Curren$y, etc. before you clowns say “well go listen to so and so.”

    38. Shit is dope, why the fuck are it all the legends that make good records and all the new rapper can’t even make 1 dope song (kendrick is dope 2)

    39. Listen to any record from Bronze Nazareth, and then try listening to this without falling asleep. smh Kweli got lyrics, but he needs to lock in with 1 producer like he’s done with madlib and hi-tek. Those records were his best IMO. Nerdy white boys love this bullshit because it’s safe.

      1. Real hip hop heads like his music because he istalking about something other than just bitches, guns, and drugs. Not every song needs to be a club banger. Listen to the lyrics and learn dumb nigga

      2. Bronze Nazareth doesn’t do “club bangers,” you idiot! Get kweli’s rod out your mouth homo.

      3. Oh, I was trying to figure out why I liked kweli so much. I thought it was because he could rap his ass off, but it turns out I’m just a nerdy white boy. I still can’t figure out why I like M.O.P. so much.

      4. No one said he wasn’t skilled, but that this album is boring. He should let me handle all the production. Reading comprehension dummy.

    40. It’s better than I expected. Not a bad album, worth a couple of listens but I wont be adding it to my collection.

    41. i’m playin dj khaled’s song takin ovaaaaa, except i’m imagining ja rule’s voice over the beat… ja rulism, we takin ovaaaaaaaa
